Option to turn off tonic sounds
Evil Neato
Okay, I'm tired of hearing all this f'ing gRurraah gRruaah... It's to the point where I mute the entire game!! First the hounds, now these assholes!? Does ANet pride themselves on making the most annoying sounding mobs possible as tonics?! wtf....
A. Remove tonic sounds entirely (after the initial use of course).
B. Add a checkbox in Options to turn the shit off if we don't want to hear it.

I am glad I am not the only one that hates the sound of that new tonic.
It was a bad idea when they made minipets make noise (mini troll anyone), and it is still a bad idea.

Wouldn't there be a way for them to make the sounds client side only?

Other than that we'd have to have someone that had intimate knowledge of their dat file and how to modify it and we'd have to remove the annoying mob sound files entirely most likely. But uh... that's so far beyond texmod that I don't think they'd ever allow anything like that, even if someone could figure out how. And even then, I think we'd have to re-edit it after every update, cause the game checks to make sure your client is the same. It'd follow the same principle of hex editing the gw.exe to dual boot I suppose -- gotta redo it every time there's an update.
So, I imagine if we could, it'd have to be something done external like texmod, but for sounds... Or something different entirely, cause if we had to edit GW directly every time (well first of all, it'd probably break the EULA and get us banned) then it'd be more trouble than the payoff...
I don't know why we should have to do that though, I mean... We paid for their game, it'd be nice if they acknowledged many people don't like the sounds while they're in towns and would like an option to turn tonic sounds off in town.

Oh my god.....
And I thought it was bad when they were just standing around..... I just saw the f-tards doing emotes repeatedly... Wow, I mean... just wow.
Remove the f'ing sounds.

Yeah, normally I just mute the irritating things in the game (hi, Vizu), but this is happening in every outpost and more often than not it's not just one guy. I didn't mind the beetles or hellhounds too much, but yetis roar.

Evil Neato
Heck, maybe a big list of check boxes in the sound options so we can pick and choose what we hear or don't hear.
upier
Are you sure you can't reduce or mute them through one of the options given?
Evil Neato
You could make them silent entirely with one of the options in sound, but it would also make other things silent that shouldn't be.

Since tonics are towns only - just turn down the sound option for the duration of the visit if the noise gets out of hand.

I recommended this in Sardelac a few days ago. Nice feature, but gets old fast. I, too, would like to see an options box to disable tonic sounds, if ANet intends to continue this trend with tonics. The people with the tonics are happy, the people not having to listen to them are happier. ANet set this trend and should consider everyone, whenever possible.

It's got to the point where any time I'm in a town I have to take off my headphones.
There should just be a check box to turn off extraneous sounds (tonics, party shit, etc.).

its called the volume control on your head set or speakers.

Why should we turn off everything down just because of one or two idiots that got lucky/have too much cash? It's like building yourself sound-proof house because someone outside of the window is shouting.

Otherwise- too much trouble to implement additional checkboxes anywhere tbh.

The sounds from the minipets were removed after Gaile had a gathering and almost everyone and their mini turned up.. = lots of noise.. Next update mini noises in towns were removed.
This REALLY NEEDS to happen for tonics now.

Just remove the sound, or make it 'local' so ONLY the tonic user hear it on his own computer.

They did the same thing with minipets about two years back. May as well invoke the same solution with tonics.

An option to turn off eroneous sounds would be a fine feature. Or maybe they could recode the tonics not to make sound but every one to two minutes. However i realy dont see the need to have sound on while in towns. All that you hear is music. If ANET bends into this like they did with the mini pets, then we will see more /reports and QQ threads about ghost in a box, fireworks in GH, snowman summoners, and anything else that annoys people. But hey, reading the QQ on the forums, i think, is what keeps us all coming back here, so whatever.

It's annoying and obnoxious, especially with how people spam emotes with it. Sorry, but people shouldn't have to turn their sound off while playing because others want to be idiots.
Or make it like the crate of fireworks, where the sounds only work in your Guild Hall.

Stop The Storm
I HAVE THE SOLUTION!
instead of removing the sound completely or having the option to remove the sound completely, how about putting a 30 second timer on its noise?
you can sit all you like but it will only make the sound every 30 seconds
