Drop rates for Pur/gold in chests?

Does anyone know the drop rate ratio for purples and golds from chests in NM and HM?
Im thinking NM 30% gold, 70% purple and HM 70% gold, 30% purple.
Does anyone know for sure or have there been any study’s on this done?

afaik there are no true "studies" per se, but people in general keep some records. I know that I ran 10,000 chests for legendary, and only ended up getting about 3000 golds to id from those chests. This was in nm.

Well, I kept track of the gold versus purple rate when studying the retention rate of lockpicks.

I opened 200 chests in normal and hardmode. In both cases, the retention rate was exactly what the game said (66% in normal and 33% in hard)

In normal mode I received gold items 35% of the time and purple 65%.

In Hard mode I received gold items 73.2% of the time and purple 36.8%.

It's up to you if 200 chests in normal and hard mode is a large enough sampling.

i ran 10,000 chests in NM...

typically got 1 gold for every 3 grapes. didnt keep records, its just what i remember

But yeah, i think around 1 gold to every 2 purples seems like what i have gotten in NM

I saw somewhere (in a chest running thread, as I recall), that chests yield golds on a 1/3 ratio (33-34%). I have run about 2000 chests outside Boreal Station in NM and can confirm this figure as being fairly accurate.

I have no knowledge of HM drop rates, though the ratio there seem to be quite a bit higher.

Anyway thnx guys for the info. Yes I have decided to Max T Hunting as my holidays are coming up. I need 6.5k left so will be doing this a while. I wanted the info to test out some figures about the amount of money I might expect to make opening chests in either NM or HM. HM was the drop rate that I wasnt quite sure of. If 70/30 though then my figures should prove correct.
it seems that atm it would be more economical to open chests in NM as the Lpicks last longer and get me more points for the title.
This is because I get 2.5 chests from each Lpick in NM and 1.6 in HM. but the rate of return in gold is about 1.1k each. So because the Lpicks still last longer in NM then it seems wiser to go NM.
