Hi, I'm having some lag problems with my guildwars atm which is restricting me from compedetive pvp and group pve. It seems that every 30 seconds to 2 minutes I get a lag spike in which everything stops moving, gradually over about 5-15 seconds it starts getting better and I can start to see some people jumping around and some of the damage I’ve dealt/received pops up, when it stops lagging it makes up for the lag by attacking really fast and all the numbers pop up quick.
Anyway ive run afew tests on my computer to moniter the lag problems. It seems that every time I get this lag there is a bottlekneck of internet usage and on a graph it reaches around 30% of of full internet usage. I’ve defraged my guildwars folder, checked for virus’s and done CD cleanups but nothing seems to help. Im using wireless btw, incase that makes a difference .
In the past I had my wireless connection connected via USB port which proved a problem because it occasionally couldn’t download fast enough for me to play.
I think it could just be a case of me getting a better virus protection against spyware or something but I wana see what u guys have to say about it
Thanx for any and all help, ~Nick

There has been some server lag today, and over the last week. perhaps they are adding stuff to the server for Christmas before publishing it

i played on my friends laptop yesterday and i had no lag, unfortournately it kept on randomly shutting off mid-play though. therefore the lag problem is not a problem with my internet but with my desktop. its been like this for months but until now i've had an alternative computer available

Check to make sure the OS or router isn't searching for a better connection periodically. That's usually associated with wireless networking, but can affect wired connections too. (I can't recall where to look atrm. )

Same problem here.
GWs was running fine for a number of months, but now it's all laggy.
I didn't change anything.
I checked my network and it works fine, tried to disable my antivirus, even reinstalled guildwars - I can download fast/play other multiplayers but whenever I play GWs (at night GMT) I seem to be having huge lag spikes.
(thing is - this doesn't happen durring the day, just strange)
Hoping it's a ANet server thing which will be fixed soon, but not sure.

MY whole group had this problem on the 15.th - lag spikes that caused us to freeze every now and again. We managed to complete our vq regardless.
Since it was the whole team, I suspect it was a problem with the servers.
We did another vq after that with no one except me having any severe lag problems.

i think that my problem is computer related and not guildwars related because it does the same thing on starcraft. i've just re-installed guildwars and the problem is still occuring although for some odd reason the lag doesnt last as long . rly rly need helpz!

you may have spyware, try downloading a program such as ad-aware or spybot and do a disk cleanup/defrag on your system
