Happens all main events to me even on my dsl 24MB download speed you just have to get used to it and work around it.
All I want for xmas (or whatever you celebrate) from anet is an Aussie Server.

Usually it's Guild Wars. This time, not. I have a near perfect ping even with download going 60-80kB/s in background.

I've been getting 20 second lagspikes recently. Pretty wierd.

hmm i am getting it all week :S lag spikes of a couple of minutes , checked my internet but nothing wrong with that so it is kinda weird. before this week i havnt had any problems with lag so..

Was questing in Yahtendi Caverns map about a half hour ago when the lag spikes started. They were bad enough, I shut the game down (i.e. couldn't/didn't quest anymore!).

Booted up in Boreal Station with a FPS of 1 about 10 minutes ago. Kamadan dist 6, FPS 1-4, Lion Arch dist 8 FPS 3-7. Pings were registering in the 40,000s! The other computer on our in-house network shows no lag (different game, same connection) and I can browse with no slow down whatsoever. The events (quests) don't start for nearly two hours yet the lag is crippling!

You'd think that by now, after over three years, The Powers That Be would bring extra servers online or *something* for these events!!!!!!!!!!!

I had massive issues chatting with people - the posts didn't even go through ...
Haven't had the massive lag that I had yesterday - but I then again I did spent most of my time on just chatting rather then actually playing.
And we know how THAT went ...

Unable to login for a while, then unable to go past character selection screen.

Error 7, 13, 40.

And a lot of lag.
Lag spikes with average ping of 30.000ms .

My internet connection is working properly, can do all the other stuff with no problem.

Been getting enough lag that I quit doing festival events with my survivor. It hasn't been too bad, but ask me again when hats show up!

If I were to guess, A.net was probably counting on people to get bored and quit (they got your money already, quitting doesn't affect them as far as profit goes) to free up server space. What they didn't count on was probably the huge horde of people that quit, but still comes back year to year for holiday events. I quit Runescape about 6 years ago and I still go back for their holiday events every year
