Obviously you thought wrong.
They've never said it was going to be a minipet. All they said you were gonna find a surprise, and there was one. Some people enjoy it, some don't. Can't please everyone.
Also complaining you are not a ranger while you name is rangergirl100, oh the irony!

Is there any info if the bear will be around after the event or is a Wintersday thing ONLY?
Minako Sawai
Just switch one (or more) of your heroes to Ranger as secondary and get as many Jingle Bears as you want.

You can go secondary ranger and charm it.

Ranger secondary. Ranger heroes. You have 2 weeks to get a ranger to level 10 and do the quests. Or go along with someone who has completed the quests and charm it that way. Or not worry about it and participate in the other 99.9999% of wintersday.

it jingles when it moves, tho my major question is does it have its own special statue for when its lvl 20? Think that it most likely will have the Animal Companion statue, but if it has its own new statue then YIPPIE! Guess ill have to charm it to find out, just need to lvl my phoenix 1st tho.

You just want the mini to sell most likely.
I got the pet on my Ele, for fun.
The rest of you should stop QQ'ing over something that is actually kind of fun.
A mod should probably throw a spoiler tag on the thread, in case people don't want the fun ruined for them.

They should have made it a purple mini polar bear, just to piss people off moar lol
imagine 10000000 polar bear minipets, just like everyone asked for, only everyone has em.
As the reward stands, i think that the jingle bear is an awesome reward. I'm almost tempted to boot my black moa for it, but i think i'll let Oggy capture him =)
does anyone know whether the Bear is only there for Wintersday, or permanatly

I was more dissapointed when I first saw that he wasnt tamable ( i finished quests at about 3:30 EST). I was relieved when I saw the fixed bug.

I still think that when my stupid heros are going to bring pets, it should be a horde of pink flamingos and nothing else. Personally I will never let go of my dire crocodile (ranger) or oink (monk). Even though I don't like the whole wintersday madness, I just have to love the "cashflow" that is going to be ensured lateron.
tl;dr - Nothing beats raping face with a horde of pink flamingos.

I think the problem people are having is this, what if at the end you got the option to have a cool skill, BUT, you had to give up your most used elite to get it.
That actually isn't very accurate. A better example is at the end it gives you a necromancer skill based on death magic that takes up 2 skill slots. Great if you are a necromancer and it works good, but not to great if you have no interest in necromancer skills.
Some people wanted a surprise that is not based on a certain profession. Another complaint is that some of us, not all, have played with a certain pet for a long period of time. That pet is part of our character, and giving it up is just not an option. The reason I am not mad about it is because it is just that, an option. You don't have to tame it. Sure I wish it had been something that anyone could use, but that isn't the case.
Best way to look at it is you get nothing for doing the quests except the quest rewards. Those are fairly useless anyway. Still doing the quests is great fun, and you get a little more lore about Gwen.
Long post short, if you aren't interested in lore or in a new pet don't bother with the quests. At best they offer a little bit of reward, and at worst they are a frustrating waste of time.

Should make a mini polar bear that is white and just give it out for a quest. Rename it Jinglebear or something and let everyone have one, then the rare gold ones from the chest are still as valuable as ever.
Could change the color of the little collar or whatever they wanted to make them distinguishable.

u think because its a different colour name makes ppl want to pay stacks of ectos for a gold coloured name when they could get a way cheaper 1 free? stupidest idea on earth

There are 3 things wrong with making this the reward for completing the EoTN quests.
1. The reward should not be tied to 1 specific profession. It should be something that all can use.
2. The reward should not make you permanently delete something you may be attached to in order to use it. The only way to switch pets is to permanently delete the one you have.
3. The reward should not be something you have to permanently delete in order to use a different pet. This depends on whether the bear will disappear at the end of Wintersday.

i am thinking, what Anet was thinking is this: It would be great if all players who really wanted a mini polar bear but couldn't get one could get a jinglebear instead, cos it sure look like a mini polar bear to me, but what they did not do is think of all aspecsts of how this will turn out.
I am sure Anet were very excited when they announce there will be a surprise at the end of the EotN quests, but this surprise is unattainable by everyone! I for one am not giving up my Ranger pets for that, cos thats the first pet, after the melandru that i gave up during the quest and has stay with my Ranger since then, its 3 years old. I am never giving that up.
But I am going to get it for my Monkie! and other character who don't already have a pet

It's wintersday and this thread shows it, it's full of fruitcakes
Nobody forces you to get the pet. It's a free gift from Anet. Can't handle it? move on and forget about it.
Want it? Fine, there are enough ways around to make sure you have at least one in your pixel collection. It's not like not having one will sudenly make you get behind in the game, it's not like a special skill you have to trade another skill in for, that's an invalid comparison.

But your statement that I quoted here is completely wrong. It is EXACTLY like a special skill (pet) that you have to trade another skill (pet) in for. That is the major issue that people have with it. Maybe you don't care because you don't use ranger pets, I don't know. But players who do use a ranger pet do tend to get attached to their pet. And they don't want to be forced to give up the pet they have fought beside for so long in order to get this one.
For the sanity of all rangers GW2 better have a stable or something like it!

If you don't like the jingle bear you are bad at GW.

I'll give a clear example: it's like 'healer's boon' would have two different icons, but the function would be still the same. Nobody forces me to get the new icon and I can stick to the old one if I like the pixels of that icon more. Yet I have more choice, which is actually a good thing.
.
Personally, I'm a monk, yet I have had different pets to get the statues for my monk. Also I play barrager and beastmaster with my monk too, with all the pve only skills and stuff, it isn't that much a different as a primary ranger. So yes I kinda care, but seriously, what are people complaining about, they get to much choice and never seem to be satisfied these days. And like I said, nobody forces them, they wanne stick to their companion they had for over years, I understand. But they shouldn't come in here to complain about the jingle bear itself. Ask for stables, way better imo.
Or was it better Anet didn't put in the jiggly bear and no surprise at all? Give people a hand and they'll take your arm.

I see on this forum tons of fanboys that degrade anyone who doesn't like what Anet provides, and to be honest that is sad.

I had a really good message typed out, but in the end erased it. There is no arguing with some types of people. Some people are just, well there isn't a polite way of saying it, but just too unintelligent to even look at something from another point of view. I am not really with either group. I think that Anet did an o.k. job, sure it was interesting. I also think they could have thought it out a great deal more. Giving away a minipanda would not have been the best idea.
If you want an analogy for comparing the Jingle Bear to something, imagine if at the end of the quest Gwen was standing there. She said, I will make your weapon, shield, or offhand item look really neat, but it has to be the weapon you have used the most and it can never be changed back. Also if you ever customize a new weapon this one will disappear forever. Now imagine that the game had some way of reading what weapon or item you used the most. Sure it is a choice, but honestly it isn't a very good one.

classic fan boy attitude. "If you don't like eating x's crap then you suck, x is teh bestorz." That kind of stuff gets so aggravating. If you can't see the wrong in something, then you can not appreciate what is good about it. |
You should check some of my other posts out, especially those about seven heroes and so many more on other topics, then you'll understand that I'm not a classic fan boy. On the contrary, I'm very critical when it comes to ANet, as the standards are high. But at least be critical about something that matters when it comes to gameplay, balance, game mechanics and design, not a free gift at wintersday meant to have some more fun. There are other issues more important than this jingle bear. And yes, a stable is one of those things that can make this game better and I'm all for it. You see, stable is the key, not jingle bear.
