Note that to "insiders", the video is a joke. It's supposed to mock over-planning so typical of MMORPG players. So, Leeeroy is supposed to be the "hero".

The comedy for me is how the team spends like the first 12 minutes outside the dungeon discussing hit percentages, buff order, and tactics... then this dude just screams his own name, charges in, aggros everything in the room and gets his party blowed up!
Without the scream, it's just a funny parody of how people take WoW too seriously, but the "Leeeeeeeroy Jeeeeeenkiiiiiiins" makes it a classic.

Actually, the video was a re-enactment of a (supposedly) real event that happened to Leeroy's guild: notably, the video version was highly inconsistent with a likely first-time raid on that lair, but the effect is the same.
Leeroy screams his name and runs in; it's funny for two reasons, both that we all know a Leeroy, but also that some people just MMO too avidly and obsessively, and Leeroy plays the hero in this case.

The video was staged, but nonetheless was hilarious and a great work by those players. I do not believe that the video is supposed to symbolize the over-speculation of players (that rarely happens except for very hardcore guilds), rather just a funny post.
