This is a peom that I thought up referring to the Pre-Searing Ascalon. Comments are greatly appreaciated, as this is my first piece of writing that I have posted on Guru. I hope you guys like it

I remember the days of Old Ascalon,
The robins singing high up in the cherry blossom trees,
The days when I would wake to their joyful chorus,
They would soar so free under the comforting morning sun trumpeting their joyful tune for all of the waking world to hear,
They would parade over the grassy county hills and the quiet, familiar houses of Old Ascalon,
The days when I would fall asleep to the faint chirp of a singing grasshopper,
When I would gaze up at the moon, so full in the dark sky,
When I would let it's protecting gaze shine upon my bed,
My heart warm and my mind at peace,
I remember the days of Old Ascalon all too well,
The memories slowly fading away from my aging mind,
The days of Old Ascalon are over,
There is nothing left of my home but ash and crumbling earth,
Where there was once a home of warmth and protection there is now nothing,
The memories of Old Ascalon are distorted and forgotten,
Only the memories of the Searing and the great fire remain,
The memories of pain and death,
Of sorrow and destruction,
Old Ascalon is but a legend now,
A legend that we, the survivors, will tell to our children to give them a place to dream of,
A place where the myth of "happyness" is a reality,
For even though we are aware that the age of Old Ascalon is long gone,
We will always believe,
That once there was something beautiful where now there is only ash and crumbling earth,
Old Ascalon,
My old, forgotten home.
