Would D/N work effectively?

Hey guys I am new to Guild Wars and I was cruising the forums and noticed that the Dervish relies heavily on it's own attributes....

However what if the Dervish gave up the Mysticism attribute and picked up the Curse line and include say.... [Spiteful Spirit] and [Mark of Pain] and even [Insidious Parasite]

I am not too familiar to the Dervish builds so please forgive me if this idea is incredibly stupid.....

You have heroes for that exact purpose. Use them.

Dervish is a melee character if you wanna run those skills i would suggest you make a necromancer.

Best thing I've seen for D/N goes something like this:

[contagion][dark aura][wearying strike][foul feast][plague touch]

Firstly, welcome to GW. You're a little late to the game, but at least in PvE, that's not going to hurt you much.

If you're getting Nightfall - which you would have to to be using a Dervish - you'll be getting the ability to use heroes as well. You can set these up as you would your own character, which gives some nice flexibility. Necromancers with skills from the Curses line are used quite a bit for this - they're fairly effective and gain energy when you kill things, which should happen a fair bit.

But you don't really want to use a Dervish as a spellcaster (excluding buff spells you cast on yourself, for the most part, anyway). It isn't meant for it, lacks a primary attribute that helps spellcasting and also lacks enough energy to do a decent job of it. Generally what you'll be doing is stacking damage boost enchantments on yourself - and, if it's your taste, perhaps some defensive enchantments - and hacking away with your scythe. That's where the Dervish generally shines; doing heavy DPS to small groups of enemies, which happens enough to be worth taking one.

Theres a good D/N build, arcane orders or something like that. Althought its better on a hero. Cant remember it, but its definately up on pvxwiki.com

You let heroes play orders support. It's just soo boring for players And as a player, I'd prefer having a Necro or Ele for orders ([[Ether Renewal] beats [[Arcane Zeal]).

Those builds are quite intense on energy. Which is fine, as long as a hero with the above necro build (orders support) is present. As Dervish you gain energy whenever an enchantments ends on you, so the orders support gives you lots and lots since 2 enchantments will end every 5 seconds. Another nice thing to do is let a Monk hero carry [[Patient Spirit], which will also charge your energy pool (and provide good healing of cause).
Just something to keep in mind

1: That wouldn't be a D/N
2: /Mo offers no leet utility

I would suggest sticking to a scythe for a dervish and if you do want to use curses then make a Necromancer.

You seem to be fairly knowledgable about the game as you know about elite skills and such so I'm going to suggest a couple of good PvE builds, hopefully you'll be able to find the elites you need.

[Wounding Strike][Mystic Sweep][Chilling Victory][Lyssa's Assault][Aura of Holy Might][Heart of Fury][Faithful Intervention][Sunspear Rebirth Signet]

[Reaper's Sweep][Mystic Sweep][Chilling Victory][Lyssa's Assault][Aura of Holy Might][Heart of Fury][Faithful Intervention][Sunspear Rebirth Signet]

[Wearying Strike][Mystic Sweep][Chilling Victory][Heart of Fury][Aura of Holy Might][Eternal Aura][Avatar Of Melandru][Sunspear Rebirth Signet]

[Eremite's Attack][Mystic Sweep][Chilling Victory][Heart of Fury][Aura of Holy Might][Eternal Aura][Avatar Of Grenth][Sunspear Rebirth Signet] I think you kinda missed the point. however knowledgable he/she is, the elites are going to take loads of work, same with the title track skills. these are good, but for new players youre only likely to have one or two of the skills.
i suggest getting enchanments such as heart of holy flame and zealous renewal. then use eremites vow or twin moon sweep to quickly get yourself a bit of enery or set the nearby enemies on fire, and heal yourself. its best to let zealous vow sit on you for a few seconds to maximise energy gain.
