Changing the color of lockpicks

Weak. I want everything that isn't worth much sold to merchant automatically. Items that are worth something should be filled by a bot into an auction, then sell the item and put the money into my storage. System should always be aware of what I want or not, so it doesn't accidentally sell the drop I wanted for myself.

Just press Alt, and pick ALL your drops up, problem solved, You cant go running to Anet every time you find a flaw in yourself and need an urgent fix so you don't go running on ahead to the next group of baddies, honestly.

all i do is look at the item and press space and it auto targets and picks up...

dude i would so want my mini pet to loot my drops..
-like white minipet only loots white items
-blue only blue and white..
...
-green mini pet loots everything

i'm always too lazy/uninterested to pick up white items like gold coins. even blue item i don't always pick up

100g split with 8 ppl(heros/hench/..) thats like 12,5g for you, thats not worth picking up imo.

but then again, if you look at the bigger picture.. i could be very rich lol

Expendable lockpicks, unlike reusable ones, are usually made of raw, cheap iron, like ninja throwing weapons, made in a cheap, quick process to make lots of them in bulks. That process may oxidize the iron, turning it into a darker metal.
So, lockpicks should stay as they are.

But there is a post asking for a way to give black items a white border or something like that, that makes dark items easier to see.
That would be better, since it won't be just for lockpicks.

I KNOW about ALT, and ; + space. Thanks to everyone for pointing it out. The thing is, sometimes you don't have the time to pick up everything, because you are trying to do a speed run, etc and it's perfectly possible you'll miss a lockpick that dropped on the ground.

Am I running to Anet ? is this a QQ thread ? it's not, I only made a suggestion that, imo, could have helped players, including myself. I am not asking Anet to make a major change to lockpicks, like this guy here. All I want is a gold color for lp, so that I notice them when they drop.

Truth is, it wouldn't hurt anyone if they did change the color, but you guys assume that every player is as smart as you and makes sure that every item has been picked up. Unfortunately it's not the case. So please consider this minor change that would make life easier for everyone.

Truth is, and I'm seriously NOT trying to be a bitch, you don't have to be smart to pick up a Lock Pick. As others stated, all you need to do is press Alt, take a quick look, loot the items you want and move on. I've never had any problems with it, nor did it slow me down...

I think he was talking about the color of the name (I.E. White, Blue, Purple, Gold, and Green), not the actual visible color of the lockpicks themselves.

I'd have to say /notsign to this idea. I don't think it's a dumb idea, just an unnecessary one. As someone above said, the reason why they are white is because they are common items. Their value is not determined by supply and demand, like the gold scroll trader, they are a fixed price from the merchant.

That being said, they don't really deserve a gold (rare) status. And really, I think it's best to just hold down alt and look around before you move on from an area anyway, or just keep tack of the drops in chat (which can be rather hard sometimes in a busy alliance and guild).

I don't know what speed runs you do, but I don't think taking 2 seconds to hold alt and scan the drops is going to affect your run.

You mean you have to be smart to look at drops? If someone is so stupid that they cannot handle looking at items on the ground, they have bigger issues in life than Guild Wars.

Native iron is dark in color. Oxidized iron is lighter in color than native iron. The "process" of forming metal does not directly contribute to oxidation. Simply sitting around causes oxidation. Handling of the metal prohibits oxidation by continually removing oxidized iron from the surface of the metal.

It was a good idea, and I think it would make sense. I don't think that auto-inventory would be a good idea, because maybe you don't to pick something up? And it also gives you the satisfaction that you have something good. Changing the color isn't that big a deal, you don't have to get all worked up about it. So what if you use alt and ; and whatnot. Doesn't stop you from doing that. If you're going to post, at least be constructive and not "omgomgomgomgomg lol ur rtarded go die. what a newfag." Seriously. Grow up.

What makes lockpicks more special than other items? If Anet implements this, then you'll just have more and more threads with people asking for them to change Item 'X' to color 'Y' and then all of a sudden instead of having a nice system of white, blue, purple, gold, green you have every fcking color ever invented.

The OP is trying to simplify something that already is more than simple. There's just no need for such a feature...

So i heard guildwars is about leet alt-holding skills and wasting time examining battlefield. In other words, wow at pointless opposition to this idea.

/signed. When storning throught PvE, there is usually not enough time or incentive to look at every single drop & I have seen pretty much every single "l33t" person i played with to forget lockpick.

This has nothing to do with stupidity. Suggestions = Improvements on the game. This is going to improve the game by reducing the chance that you may miss a vital drop while quickly running through areas.
Why attack people? If this suggestion doesnt affect/apply to you then don't post. Pretty simple.

Uh what? Lockpicks being upgraded to gold won't cause a chain effect. An item worth over 1plat is a rare item in my opinion. This has nothing to do with any other item.

Let's assume Lock Picks are given a Gold color. You would still have to 'look' for the Gold color, right? Are you sure that isn't too tiring for you? Maybe all drops should just pop in your inventory instead, just so you don't lose that silly 10g lying on the floor behind you.


You do realize rare means uncommon, right? I wouldn't really call an item rare if you can buy it at any random Merchant...

I agree with the majority of people here. Lockpicks are common items; they can be obtained from a merchant. Players also trade them with other players for gold. Also, it's really not that hard to get in the habit of picking up all items, even if they are white. Most of my income is from obtaining whites and selling off to Merchant. I have seen people who just leaves white drops lying around when they can become gold at the nearest friendly neighborhood Merchant.

Sorry. I can't agree to something as this. Someone said that if this idea was to be implemented, then there would be other players asking for such-and-such item be changed to such-and-such color. Not a good idea, in my opinion.

Also wtf? When have you ever missed a gold? Cause god knows when I'm killing 30 monsters at once I always look for the golds. The whites are an afterthought, nothing more. No one said anything about this being tiring, just the preventation of a careless mistake, although I do enjoy jumping to assumptions. Like the assumpion that you are just another nay sayer to everything suggested.

The fact is that I don't even really care if this got implemented. If it did great, if not I'll live. There are no actual negative effects of this being put in the game so you try take cheapshots about peoples intelligence. I'm only posting to actually try figure out why people would say no to this. Assuming Anet came up and said they could do it with no problems at all why would you say no?
