And how close do they become undodgeable?

How to dodge snowballs?

Sidestep or "zig-zag" with your strafe keys, or click side-to-side with your mouse. Step behind terrain. Anything that works against projectiles can be used to dodge snowballs. Basically, kite them. Unsure at what range that becomes ineffective.

about half aggro range you can dodge them with a present, its a hell of a lot closer without a present but alot harder.

The snowball is thrown to intersect your current path when it lands.
All you need to do is change your direction so that you are not in that location. If the thrower is to one side or the other, the most effective means of dodging is to click right behind your feet as the snowball is about to be released. Click to the right or left of your feet at release if the thrower is in front of you or is behind you.
You can dodge a snowball at just about point-blank if you're not carrying something like a present and start out moving at a right angle to the path of the snowball. You need about 2/5 of an aggro circle of distance to dodge a snowball if you were moving parallel to the path of the snowball.
Holding something such as a present, the above will start to work somewhere around 1/2 to 2/3 of an aggro circle away.

The real problem lies in needing your entire team to have keyboards/mouses with programmable buttons for binding some keys.
