Tormented Shield Color
Eragon Zarroc
What color would you say the tormented shield is? Couple of my guildies insist it's pink when I swear that it is purple. Just wondering what other people think. =D

I'll follow through with either:
a) the girls because they have the ability to see more colors than the guys (i.e. indigo)
b) the RGB code. lol

Never mind. I take my statement back because the girls that are replying can't even agree.
RBG Code it is. |
EDIT: Even this is just a theory. It hasn't been experimentally verified, and the best explanation that HAS been verified is that in low-light situations, the rods of the eyes contribute to color vision.
Different monitors and settings also have a lot to do with the color of things. For example, what everyone considers "gold" as far as item rarity is in fact to me a pale, dull yellow. Try experimenting with the "warm", "neutral", and "cool" settings on your monitor.

Um..magenta/purplelish

Because it's not necessarily true. Only about half of all women have enhanced chromatic perception due to a gene difference leading to an extra pigment sensor in the retinal cells. They don't see color "better" than others, they just have an enhanced sense of color separation.

Girls, on the other hand, have too many useless colors. Why do you for example say there are tens of colors of lipstick? There are only 3 red colors - red, dark red and light red. The rest is only intensity...
Oh well. You have colors, we have math and computers. Pfft!

Actually, if a male can try to learn, he can see how some colors are different. For example, how olive is different from green... I don't know yet, but I do know more colors than my school buds.

Maybe your buds dont care about naming those colors or care if something is few tones off, but they definitelly can tell em apart if someone shows em sampler.
About lipstick, fan of Maddox?

By "color separation" I mean that if you look at two incredibly similar shades of a color side by side (say, #02FF36 and #02FF42), about half of all women would have a change at being able to tell a difference vs. only about 8-10% of men. The rest of the population would see two of the same color.

Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors or here: http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm
And compare with the tormented shield.
It falls somewhere between pink and purple.

By "color separation" I don't mean naming different shades of green. That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard today, and someone pointed out that you're probably a Maddox fan and have very little idea what you're talking about beyond what you read on some rant site.

Who/What is Maddox? I've read about the lipstick thing in a Polish magazine, so it's probably not the same.

I chose a green color, slided it down to make it black... DEEP FOREST GREEN. The funniest thing, I've showed that black color (it's black...) and she said it's a very dark green. Oh come the hell on...
Or like why some girls say I'm a dark blond. I'm not. I'm dark brunette, damn it.

Jesus Christ, mellow out. Do you have a social life if you insult everyone around you for no reason?
IlikeGW
It's the glowing version of purple. If it was pink it would look like a glowing version of pink. You might not see it right if your game gamma or monitor gamma or color balance is really poor or something though, which is poor color adjustment on your part.

+1 for colour blind population too
