Ritualist staff
Halimahdance
I have been upgrading my weapon as my Ritualist levels in order to increase the damage she does. However, my boyfriend has been using the Mindclouder green mesmer weapon with his Ritualist because his understanding is that the damage on caster staves doesn't matter like it would with an up-front character. Can anyone clear this up?

Damage on staves does not matter. As a caster your damage will come from your spells and/or summons.
You should look for more energy and halve cast/recharge times on staves and wands

The max dmg for a staff is 11-22 and its nice to have but overall your staff is going to be used for the mods.
All staffs come default with a HSR mod max for this is 20%.
The other mods depending on what campaign the weapons comes from
Proph and Factions will have weapons where one mod is permanent and two are changeable where as NF and EotN have 3 mods that are changeable.
A basic staff for any caster is
Staff head- Insightful
Attribute- Q9-13
Default mod- HSR 20%
HCT 20% <- This mod is non changeable on Prof and Factions but full customizable in NF and EotN. In NF and EotN is know as "Aptitude not Attitude" inscription.
Lastly you will add a Staff Wrap for most casters this is a Staff Wrap of Enchanting but as a Ritualist you won't rely on enchantments as much as the other spell casting classes, so you can get away with Staff Wrapping of Fortitude +30hp
Hope this helps
