Tyria Map question (attn Regina)

I recently started vanquishing and at the same time trying to do the cartographer title. I have noticed before an area from the tyria map in the upper left corner that represents probably 1/4 of the total map.

I was wondering if this area was build into the world for a future expansion of guildwars. Since GW2 is still probably not going to come out any time soon, it will be a good idea for the developers to come out with something new there.

Then again this is all wishful thinking.
Just, maybe, cast [Infuse] into GW1

maybe you should read up on the lore. most of the islands we cant get to are part of the lore and would totally mess everything up if we could get there. aint that a shame

I can see you have directed your question to Regina, I have never seen her in this section.

There is only two developers left in the GW section of the company. They are maintaining the game and taking care of the event, skill updates, etc. Everyone else have been diverted to the efforts concerning GW2. According to ArenaNet, there will be no new expansions developed for GW.

I know there is no futher guild war expention packs coming out until GW 2. But I have even seen gates in explorable maps that are not used. So think that maybey they changed the original planning some where. Or just put them in for the fun of it.

The entire upper left hand corner of the map that was added in was added when they expanded the map out from Phrophecies to include GW:EN. Ie, most of that upper left hand corner of the map didn't exist until GW:EN was released, and by then they had already announced that GW:EN was the last GW1 game. So no, they clearly had NO plans to use it in GW1 at all.
GW2 on the other hand... yeah they probablly are planning on using that area, or at least reserving it for GW2 expansion packs.

The only islands that are a part of lore that we cannot get to is the sunken Orrian Peninsula. And to go there would not mess up lore as long as the place is destroyed, in ruins, etc. like Ascalon - and filled with Undead. That is correct. They said this.
