Lucky Title
imnotyourmother
As the title suggests I have a few questions about the Lucky title that I have resolved to MAX in 150 Days or less as my New Years Resolution (it is possible)
Question:
1) Does the Lucky title effect ALL aspects of game play including drops. Can this be mathamatically calculated?
2) Is there a faster way to average 5,000 Lucky Points/hour while maintaining my 83% retention rate. (I open Ascalonian Chests with lvl 3 Lucky and lvl 4 treasure hunter). By this I mean LOCATION
I am aware of KIllroys location but I only have a retention rate of 56% or something like that and my Goal is to get the luck title First giving me max bonus retention before I go for treasure hunter title.
Also I receive almost 10 time the amount of lucky points (when it was set at 25/break) so even breaking my chest will give me 207 unlucky points. this will net me almost 36,000 unlucky points upon breaking the rest of my 172 lockpicks.
Any thought on this???

1. Far as im aware lucky/unlucky title bares no effect on actual gameplay - so no it dont improve drops.
2. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lucky for details on lucky title and getting it
Im damn confused on one part - i take it your doing nm as hm retention is way less than 56% .
Even in hm with max titles i believe you still lose lockpicks tho you can also check http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lockpick which has details.
Most ppl do lucky/unlucky at same time via boardwalk games which is meant to be fastest ( i think ) but costliest as well

yes, ascalonian chests are the way to go if you're soley looking for the lucky title. however, if you've yet to max Treasure Hunter, I'd suggest you open 600g chests instead, as you'd gain 2 maxed titles and increase your overall lockpick retain chance as well. If you don't care WHERE you're running chests, darkstone chests on hell's precipe is likely your best bet, as you could possibly get fairly rare things, and running chests with shadow form is pretty damn easy.
If speed is your primary concern, try multiple areas to figure out where you can run chests the fastest. However, if you ONLY want lucky, run the cheapest chests you can.
Personally, I would run 600g chests if I were you. But since I'm not, try shing jea and other noob chests.

Well the wiki is blocked for me at work and I can not get on it.
thre is much of the game play that depends on luck. Such as.. well the sundering weapons for example.
It is 20% chance of strike or 20% HRT or 20% chance of HCT or many other things.
IS your chance improved if you have maxed lucky title than without it? Are the dropps better? This is what is leading me to try the lucky title only for the next 150 days.
i got 15,000 lucky points last night in about 3 hours time and I broke 7 picks so I got 1,449 unlucky points while I was at it. So I opened 67 chests in 7 hours.
These were the 50 gold chests in Prophecies in Normal mode as my retention rate is a wopping 83%. So as you can see at 60 chest a night will take me 166.67 nights for maxed title starting at 0 chests. I currently have 300,000 lucky points as of last night.
So I have 8,800 more chest to open and at a rate of 60 a night it will take me 146.67 more nights to get the title. So I should have the title by the end of MAY 2009.
However my lockpick should run out 24 days at the end of this month. I only get drops worth 12 gold or so so that really bites. I do admit that I did some runs with killroy last night to get to 60 opened chests. I ran 8 chest but broke 3 picks. So the fastest way is boxing if you have 12 Million 500 thousand gold or 12 stacks of ectos at 4500 gold each.
I am trying to offset that by lack of funds as it is illegal to buy gold. I kinda wish that I could buy gold cause I could get 1 chest a minute or about 200 chest a night and cut the time down by a third or more as the treasure hunter title would kick in.
Oh well...

Well then my question is has this been tried and tested? Is it true that it does not effect it. Have you tested it and do you have the title maxed and have compairisons?
I'll tell you my findings. I farm special items in pre during weekends and special events. As I increased my rank in luck title I got more special drops.
An example. I went from lvl 1 of lucky to lvl 3 of lucky over the period of Halloween and Christmas.
During haloween I found myself getting one drop about every 3 runs. I realize that there were fewer things to drop then at Christmas. When I ran on Sunday Night - the last night of the wintersday - I got an average of 2 drops per run and I never got shut out.
So that leads me to believe that I was getting better drops. As for loot scaling that I can not say for sure until I max the title and the festival comes around next year. The theory would be that there would be more accounts and more people playing next year than this year so I should get less or the same amount of drops unless the luck title effects the drop rate.
I have the lucky title checked when I am farming. Like the norn title give you health I figured that maybe the lucky title give more luck.
It seems as though there is none in the game with the lucky title maxed or if there I have not found them yet. So I will do some calculations on my own using a sword and the Snow Wurms in hard mode with a Sundering Sword Hilt to see the damage with out using skill.
Also weapons strike from 15-22 damage. What governs when you hit for 15 damage and when you hit for 22 damage.
On the wiki I remember it saying that the lucky title effects all aspects of game play. I get 3 times as many back dye drops in pre than anyone else I know. So is that statement false?
I got to know.
If the lucky title effects everything then it would be the best title in the game and very hard to obtain. Well it is very hard to obtain and they did not change that either. They only changed the Unlucky title from 25 points to 2.5X the amount of percentage of opening a chest. Funny that they use the opening of the chest and not the breaking of the lockpick.
Makes you wonder.

No. The 20/20 inscription is not in any way indirectly or directly influenced by your lucky title. Nor is any other form of inscription. So you can scrap that idea. AFAIK the only thing infuenced directly by how "lucky" you are is chest retaining rates. Do tell me if I'm wrong.

Well, when I went to max my titles I chose to do them at the same time. I already had r2 lucky. I was in a guild that frequently owned a town, so I would buy the discounted luxon keys and chest run the jade sea until I was at r3 or so treasure hunter. This does nothing for lucky however. After that my retention rate was pretty good, and I bought discounted lockpicks and ran snowman's lair (4-5 chests in 10 minutes) and kilroy's dungeon (1 chest every minute or so) After your titles go up some this actually pays for itself, and as you get close to max it'll start making you money selling the runes and mods. So don't let that huge millions number scare you off, it's not like that's all out of pocket, you'll just be using the same money you make.
Now, when I maxed treasure hunter, I was about 200k away from maxing lucky. So I could have continued like that if I chose. Unfortunately I did all that before the unlucky update so I only got 25 unlucky for breaking a pick, or I'd probably be as close to maxing that.
As far as it affecting the rest of the gameplay, At max treasure and almost max lucky, my drops are terrible. Event drops are exempt from loot scaling, so I do ok on them but not particularly great. I've never gotten 1 super rare or desirable drop. Never. I've opened the zchest a ton (almost r4 in that) and done every dungeon, some many times... nothing. So I'm going to say that lucky title has NOTHING to do with drops you get. I do pretty good at retaining things when I salvage, but not so much that I don't use a perfect salvage kit when I want to make sure not to break the item. I've seen people with max lucky and unlucky, so it's very doable and I'm sure there's a ton of people who've done that.

The lucky title definately improves your drops. After I maxed mine, every time I opened the UW chest it dropped a req8 e-blade.
And it got my warrior laid too

Well thanks crazybanshee.
From your post it sounds like you know what you are talking about. My question is do you have the lucky title checked when you are doing your runs or do you have another title displayed?
DarkFlame implied that I would need to record my findings and do them 10K or more to back up my findings.
Last night I managed 21,250 lucky points in 4 hours and i was watching the x-files dvd while I was doing it. I know that I missed some chests too but the time flew by as it is becoming rote for me.
Playing 4 hours a night is normal for me too and I can get 10 -12 hours in on sat and some sundays. I have no life.
Just before I get the next lvl of the title I am going to smash some snow wurms with my sword. I want to record every slash with my blade and see the damage dealt before the title changes and after the title changes. If there is no difference in the striking then that will be that. But if there is then this myth is plausable.

The best way to quickly gain lucky point will be to stand afk in one of the nine rings coming up in February along with opening the chests which you have been doing. This should shave off a lot of the time you will need to spend. Here is a link with all the information you will need.

i would do the 600 chests if ur interested in chest title and can afford the breaks. it may be faster for lucky alone doing ascalon chests but after getting lucky u start all over doing ur chest title. then u end up with extra lucky points that are worthless. u can max ur chest title and if ur lucky isn't maxed by then, go do ascalon chests. more effecient if ur aiming towards both
