I got my new laptop for Christmas and i installed guild wars on it and it ran 100% fine until this week, i seemed to be getting worse lag every day. Today i tried farming in UW but i couldnt cast Protective Spirit so i just died and ive now wasted 10k trying to farm in the UW. Im pretty sure its not my laptop.
I looked at the ping symbol and it said my average ping was 22,000!
anyone know how i can fix this?? or know what the problem is??

First of all, have you noticed web pages loading slower, or your net connection dropping at all recently, if you have, then you will need to contact your ISP.
If not, then try all the usual things, like updating drivers for your graphics card etc, doing a disk defragmentation, and re-installing or redownloading your guild wars .dat file.
Also, it may help if you post some system specs, and net connection info.

So, is it just your laptop that has a slow internet speed? if that is the case, you could try re-installing wireless/wired drivers on the laptop.
If the whole computer seems slower, then try a disk defrag, and you could re-install your .dat file.

well, you can re-install guild wars from cd's. or, you can go into your guild wars file, delete the .dat file, then open guild wars again with the -image command line, to re-download all the files. (To use command lines, right click on the shortcut, click properties, then add "-image" to the end of the "Target" line.)

That type of video card is the new design from Nvidia to deal with AMD's dual core processors. It still better than the old one.

Because the card is a hybrid, If I remember correctly, the card gets disabled when you are not using 3D graphics in order to save power. That might be the problem right there. check on your power configuration.
Another option for the lag might be that your video card is sharing main system memory.
When that happens that's not good for any game.

Ok well im not sure if it is my video card because i can play guild wars and most other games perfectly with any trouble and i reckon it is my connection because when i use the '-image' command i can see the speed of my download and this ranges from 3kps to 200kps changing constanly at a very high speed, Is there anyway of stablizing my connection so its not changing so much, i have also noticed this on the GW ping symbol its always change between Green, orange and red. My Power plan is set to the HP Recommended so i can change that for performance. Is there anyway of changing how much the video card shares??

sounds like a wireless issue, not a graphic one. if it is possible, get an actual ethernet cord and connect it.

What country are you operating from?
I agree, it sounds like a wireless issue. See what happens when you use wired connection. If there is no difference, see if the problem is with your router. Try connecting directly to your dsl modem or whatever.

Windows has the annoying habit of scanning for new wireless connections. If there are some around your home, Windows might be trying to connect to those and therefore giving you lag in between.
Depending on your wireless card, there's a setting that will tell windows not to do that.
You need to change it. Also there's a setting that you need to change in your power configuration regarding your wireless card. When there's not much traffic bettween you and the hub, windows reduces the amount of power to the wireless card in order to conserve power.

Ive just plugged in the Ethernet Cable into my laptop but it doesnt help the connection is still bad flashing between Red, Orange and Green theres not much i can think of that will affect my connection other than the ISP its self maybe it time for a very exspensive call to Orange

Ok i went into the Guild Wars options (which i should have done first) and tweaked the options a little and i think ive slightly fixed the problem ive changed some of the options to Medium, the Refresh Rate to 60Hz and Anti-Aliasing to 4X ive got a Green symbol more often and it doesnt go into Oragne or Red as much as it did!

I'd just like to say that there are often people who post on here wanting help with their lag problems, but....
If your machine was working fine and you suddenly started getting lag, there's probably not anything you can do about it. If most of your internet related stuff works fine, such as your browser or other online games, and only GW (or a few) things don't, it's usually a "routing issue". That is, something, somewhere in the path between you and the GW servers (or the GW servers themselves) is getting overloaded, or is malfunctioning, or in other ways causing the lag. Trying to "fix" it at your end is futile.
Most of the things that people advise you on about reducing lag only work if the problem is actually on your end. Sometimes you can create more problems by futzing around with too many settings.
