Level 20, now what?
trfay
To the public: I own all three campaigns of Guild Wars. I played halfway through prophecies before switching to nightfall, in which I have my first level 20 character. But to be honest, what do i do now? Is there a point to finishing out the campaign? I've been using the same armor, weapon, and skills as level 12. I'm just having a hard time figuring out what is my next step...preferably towards PvP?

whats the next step? Everything! Only a small part of GW is dedicated to leveling up your character. Now it all depends what you are in the mood for.
You could as you mentioned, start getting your character ready for pvp. If you are serious about it you could also think about getting a couple of different armor sets, (elite if you feel like it) to show off and to swap in and out for different builds, (runes swapping is cheaper though.) Another thing to help get your account ready for pvp is start capping and aquiring skills. That way you do not have to spend faction, (or real money) on them and if you decide to create a few pvp characters you will have some decent skill already unlocked.
If you have yet to pvp I would stear you towards the competitive missions and AB. Others may disagree here, but those were the most fun I had in pvp when I started, while RA sort of just discouraged me.
You could start title hunting, the easiest may be finishing the campaigns. In the process get your heros set up for HM. While I do not know your build I would assume if it is the same one you were using since 12 it could use a bit of improvement.
You could start filling up you HOM, if you have EOTN, you said you had 3 campaigns so maybe this is not an option for you.
You could start rare weapon hunting, for fun or for profit, not as many as there were back in the day but if you own EOTN then I would recommend dungeon runs.
GL and as I mentioned before, most of guild wars revolves around you have a level 20 character.

Well, the obvious answer is to finish a campaign. And then finish the next one and the one after that. Cause everything before you reached lvl 20 has been nothing but an extended tutorial.
Your same armor/weapons/skills just ain't gonna cut it anymore as you actually move forward in the game. So start working to improve those aspects, before you step into any serious forms of PvP.

Well you ought to complete the storyline as if only half way in prof you have not started some of the harder missions (collect your book also for rewards once all missions in each campaign is complete...1 in each campaign...
The storyline in nighfall has not begun really also so you have plenty to do there ..same with Factions........
There s plenty to do by doing the quests /primary quests to continue the story..
Your armour will need to be maxed for your class ..you can get max for as little as 5k plus materials(250k ones same stats) just depends what you like in fashion..
Sure pvp to also get faction for hero(Elite)+(normal) skills also as well for your pve chars
The part with level 12 wepon does not matter as guys can get run even with starter...but they will be of no use when you start to do the later missions..
on your own /hero/pug
There is plenty to do its just that mabe you dont know where to start , all i say is continue each campaign /storyline giving you an insight with your other chars

There are points to finishing campaigns.
Firstly, in the case of Prophecies characters, the quests for extra attribute points are well past the halfway point of the Prophecies campaign. Your level 20 character could be missing up to 30 attribute points if you started him in Prophecies and went to Nightfall at the halfway point. If you want to take a character into PvP at level 20, you will want to have a full complement of 200 attribute points or you'll be at a major disadvantage.
Secondly, check your equipment. Ensure you have max armor for your profession (60 for casters, 70 for rangers and meleemancers, 80 for warriors and paragons). Get it runed up to enhance your combat effectiveness. Try to get your hands on a max damage weapon with some decent mods - collector NPCs can come in handy here, as can green weapons from bosses (greens generally come with max stats by default with very few exceptions).
Thirdly, expand your skill repertoire. The same old skills will not cut it in a PvP environnment and you have to be prepared to adapt. The more skills you have at your disposal, the more flexible you'll be when it comes to choosing a build for the arenas. Hunt bosses and cap their elite skills too - some of the more powerful elites are only found later in the campaigns, giving you some incentive to move towards campaign completion.
Fourthly, complete at least one campaign. The first time you complete a campaign with a character, you'll be able to select a green weapon as a reward. Having an extra weapon at your disposal can be handy as it lets you change which mods are active on you during combat. Again, this gives you some extra flexibility which you'll need for PvP. Not to mention that you'll then gain access to hard mode for that campaign, with bigger rewards and better loot drops.

Play through all of the campaigns for access to more elite skills, end-game greens, cooler looking armor, more heros, access to skill trainers which have tons more skills, and Hard Mode. Pretty much what Toutatis said.

So I see that the majority believe I should finish the Campaigns, and get max armor. Where is the first place I can get this max armor?

And getting max armor, is again just another step toward ending your tutorial days.

There are more flashy versions of max armor around in the form of elite armor sets. These cost far more to craft (in terms of both cash and materials) but do not offer any improvements in functionality over the basic max armor. They only look more extravagant.
