Remove Titles

Yah really...the titles in GW basically doubled my length of play. I don't really play much anymore but I'd probably have quit after about a year without the titles.

I agree the titles are stupid...but it keeps people coming back.

I like the fact that the titles are different. Some are grindable for those who like to grind. Some are not grindable for those who doesn't. Skill > time: Vanquisher, Guardian, Survivor etc. Time > Skills: Sweet Tooth, Drunkard, Norn etc.

Guild Wars isn't just for people who wanna do one thing. There's plenty of options in it. Some people like to grind titles, others don't even care about titles, some PvP, some PvE some do both.... that's how it works

Remove the gameplay advantages the titles give (lux, kurz, ss and the rest) but don't remove any titles, as much as I personally hate them they add much needed replay value to pve.

/not signed 2 Are you arguing that title should only be given to people with pvp experience? Is that even fair to mention. If so, I could also argue that PvP is skill > time more the PvE, since its skill > time, why do pvp need to have titles? they already have tournamets and stuffs and are listed on the internet, thats already enough. Title should be given even more to PvE players becasue PvE is role playing concentrated hence the title would mean more to PvE player then it would PvP players. you should have suggest for PvP title to be removed instead.

/not signed 3 Its not meaningless task and also not a grind when there's a goal for doing it, the goal is to get the title, and its not grind becasue it stops when and if said goals are reach, hench not grind, also not to mention all the titles have nothing what-so-ever to benefit your game play. They are all for display and are detachables from actual game play. Unless if you insist on using PvE skills in which case why would you want those skills removed if your using it? Right, unless you don't have them and wants players who has them to not have them too? Come GW2 when someone who have GW HoM transfers "thingy" gets beat up by a noob without, that would be nice to see. Also, a little off topic, lol, over power PvE skills in GW is a joke, compare to other games these so called PvE skills are only still pre-searing.

/not signed 4, now i can say this, have you play other mmorpg before to determine what really is consider grind? lol, GW compare to others are on the lighter side of this with its titles, its very unfair to put GW together with all those others. its not that the other game are not "entertaining" it is, you have your regulars pugs and random players you meet and play with, but when you look carefully and think all those things you do in GW is no where near grinding.

None of the title are grind if you look at them carefully, i'll admit some are quite inconvenience and boring, but none of them has anything that a player need, to advance in the game. It is all for after your character has already complete the game/story. And already has max armor and weapons (half way across the game even, and sometime at the beginning of the story).

hmm. proph finished in 16hours, factions in 8, nf in 8. now im done and can go play my xbox. F that. If it wasnt for the titles to give people goals to reach, no matter how minor or major, then this game wouldve been dead long ago and no one would even be here now to bitch about this or to tell the OP he is the stupidest person ive seen on the threads in weeks. Its truly asinine to remove titles. You truly want an ex-Guild Wars mob marching up to Washington state with spears, fiery gladiuses, destroyer staves, and magma shields calling out the people who would have to make such a decision???

Seriously I hope this thread was started as a joke.......since there would be NO GW2 if such a thing occured. There are way too many title hunters who have grinded their way to their own little satisfaction on this game. Anet might as well stop what they are doing and drop GW2 if this were to happen.

I looked at every title and just could not grasp anyone elses thoughts about the significance of any title over any other title, due to the fact ...that you can buy any title. YES you can buy just about any title. You can buy your sweets/pay for vanquishers/pay for pt farmers/pay for festival tickets/pay for mapping/pay for tigers/pay for skills/pay for drinking(which i did last night just not on GW)/pay for party....the list goes on.

You cant blame a bandaid for getting an infection when if you werent cut in the first place........there would be no infection. If the world was perfect, there would still be "purchasing of titles." It truly would have a huge effect on the game if there was no way to purchase gold. But people seem to forget that no matter what you do...theres always someone out there who is does something opposite of you. Newton was a bright man. His theory/law really applies to more than just science. Theres always some genius deviantly thinking of a way to get over or abuse the rules or take advantage of something/someone ...just because they can. No matter what game it is, No matter what ANET does...someone out there is a step behind or ahead doing what they have to do to make things easier for themselves. Anet has done a pretty good job at attacking bots and gold sellers. Just think if they wouldnt have done what they did...where things would be.

Unlike those annoying flashing emotes, you don't have to see other people's titles if you don't put the pointer over them, and you can't see their HoM unles they take you to it.

But thanks to things like titles, the Faction cap increase by making different things, you actually find people in some places now. Maguuma is still almost empty, but not as empty as before.

People who don't want titles are those people who can't get titles or don't have the time to spend to get titles and are tired of being passed over because of their lack of titles. It's the have-nots that want to take away what everyone else has in order to be "equal".

Solution: Learn how to get titles and get them, or join a guild with people who don't care about titles who do things that you like to do. Problem solved.

You can make enough money to get the party/sweet/drunk title in under 3 weeks.
Also, you can get GWAMM in under 3 months.

Titles give us something to do, and some of them are kinda fun to get lol. Without them I don't think GW would have lasted as long as it has.

I'd like a way to remove or hide titles that I don't care about or at least give the points to those who want them (ie Drunkard/Sweet Tooth/Party Animal/etc) so I can get them off my hero panel. The only title I really care about is Cartographer.

Or some of us just think they're pointless.

This is why the idea will never happen. Would it be good for the game? Yes. Would bad players who spent 100k+ on sweets whine endlessly? Yes.

If we could retroactively change the game, this would be an awesome idea. Sad thing is, we can't.

Let's face it, if you took away titles, the game would die. Titles/hall is basically a hook to get players to care about GW2. There is no way A.net would ever remove titles.

WTF? Are you kidding? Vq, guardian, survivor are all about GRIND. The only title not about grind is probably L Eotn, since you can't just sabway through HM dungeons.

Just thought I should point out that you can't, in fact, pay for mapping. If someone in your party maps an area, you don't get credit for it, so unless you're comfortable with paying someone to log onto your account and map for you (lol), you're doing it all yourself.

Sure, if you're a no-life loser who spends every free moment of your time grinding away at Guild Wars. What fun is that?

My 4 years of playing Guild Wars is nullified and I become a Noob because I say that most people won't have the time to spend to get the titles, just because YOU spend 18 hours a day doing exactly that over and over again?

Honestly, I'd rather play the game and have fun than refuse to do anything but get one more point or one more ecto to spend on that money title. I'm only at 25 (+2 waiting to be chain-spammed) max titles on a character that's just over 3 years old, and that's the furthest I've gotten so far, waiting on 13 areas to vanquish and a boatload of kurzick faction. Am I a noob? Do you know what else I've been doing with my time in-game and otherwise? I don't think so. I vanquish when I feel like it. I farm kurzick faction when i feel like it. Lately, I've been focusing on my mesmer, which is my second-youngest character. Not going for GWAMM, not even going for titles, just getting around and getting eotn titles up enough to get armor. When I get all the armor I want for the mesmer, i might take the paragon around the block a little bit. On occasion I'll go back to the Warrior and vanquish an area or two, but I have weeks in between. Why? Because I play to have fun, and there will be plenty of time to get GWAMM on her before GW2 is out, and there won't be any point in doing the same thing on the other characters.

It takes more than just thinking they're pointless to actively petition to remove them from the game altogether. It takes an inferiority complex and a desire to ruin someone else's fun to do something like that. If you don't care for titles, don't open the Hero panel. Period. Other than that, it's just a matter of ignoring the single line of text under a character's name. If you can't manage that, there's really no help for you.
