if you really like to use a pet use a ranger primary, cause this just takes too many energy and skill slots.

for a warrior if you already have some good skills on you and lv 20 whit 200 attribute pts you should do a lot better than usaing a pet.

if you arent interested in using a ranger whit bow they can also use axes and are good whit it.

good pve warrior skills are

if running sword:
dragon slash
sun and moon slash
optional
flail
lionscomfort

a sword whit + 10% adrnaline works better whit any warrior build
you could also use a zeleous mod which is good for energy gain

just to start you off

welcome to guru

Look down the forum list to Campfire section. You will find a Warrior subforum with a stickied guide for the basics.

As furanshisuko said, a W/R beastmaster build is difficult to use effectively. It can be nice to have the pet as a ally when you are low level, but hard to maintain the skills needed for the pet to be effective.

If ranger is your chosen secondary, you can eventually put some points into marksmanship and do better at ranged damage when it is needed.

I started my warrior using a sword (a guildie gave me a nice Shadow sword), but eventually moved to using an axe. I still use an axe most of the time as there are several multi-target axe skills available. You won't get to those for a while, so damage wise, sword or axe is a personal decision.

That sword is called a Fiery Dragon Sword and almost every new warrior wants one.

Look at the damage your pet does when you have a lot of attribute points put into Beast Mastery. Now look at the damage it does when BM is at 0. See the difference? To be effective as a "pet user" you're gonna need those attribute points spent in BM and you're gonna need more then 2 BM skills(other then just Charm Animal and a pet rez) on your bar. Not worth trying to balance it into a melee/pet hybrid, as you'll just end up sucking. Either go with Ranger and make a Beast Master, or stick with a War ditching the pet.

^None of those are found in Proph or EoTN. There's a War sub-section in the Campfire forum, it includes a well rounded guide for new wars. I suggest you read it and pick up some of the builds found there.

And yeah, the FDS(and even an IDS) are available to players later in the game. They are not all that rare.
