Sending account from one computer to another

Is this even possible? I installed GW on my dads laptop, so that if I wanted to play w/ my friends on fri nite, then we could all play together. I was wondering if its possible for my account could be switched from my desktop to my dads laptop?

Your account details are stored online ,so any system that has gw installed can access it.

Your friends must have their own account though, they can't use your account while you are using it. Only one instance of an account can be played at a time.

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
You want to play Guild Wars with your friend by installing it onto your dad's laptop as well as your computer that you normally play on so that you AND your friend can play together.
That wont work. You CAN install the game in as many computers as you want to. That is no problem at all. To play, however, you must connect to Arenanet's servers with a valid account. You have one valid account so only one person can play. No matter how many computers you have installed it on.
I hope that clears things up a little bit. If I'm totally off-base than my apologies. You could do a google on buddy keys perhaps. I wanna say my first ones had some that I tossed away and I got the later ones from the online store so I can't even tell you if they still ship with them.

i know that my friends have their own account, thats understandable. what im talking about is usin my account on my dads laptop. when i tried 2 login, it gave me the code 227 error. any idea of that error code?

I believe that is the code for incorrect account information

You may have typed in your account name or password incorrectly.

You can login with your account on any computer that has the client installed and an internet connection.

Never heard of the error code 227 and both wikis don't cover it.
Just make sure that you entered the login and pw correctly and that the Laptop is connected to the internet.

It would be helpful if you gave us a little more information about what you did.

The only thing you need to do is download the client agian on your dads laptop then reinstall everything.Your dad is really nice to let you use his laptop.

To the others what he is saying is that he takes his dads laptop over to his friends house and propably connects via router so there are more than one online.This what I am getting from this.

As others have said, you can log in toi your account from any computer that can run GW. If you are getting an error code, it's because of a error.

It could be that the laptop's firewall is blocking GW. Or perhaps the laptop is old and just can't run GW.

Can you give more info about the make & model of the laptop, and what exactly does it say when you get the error? Error code 227 is an MSN error code - is the laptop running MSN? There could be a conflict of some kind - MSN uses some hotkeys that can conflict with GW (but usually after it's running.)

FYI you can run more than one account on one computer using GWx2. Won't help much in your case because you can only actively control one account at a time.
