So after a 2 year hiatus, I am returning to Guild Wars. I'm sure I'm way behind on everything (haven't even bought Nightfall or Eye of the North) but that's not gonna stop me from re-learning the game and having fun.

I have 3-4 good characters remaining from when I quit but I'm not sure if I'll use any of them, more likely I'll start over and work up.

But I'm curious as to which profession combo I should go with to become a successful player. I'd say my first class should be one whose good at farming so that I can gather money efficiently.

My 3 favorite professions are: Necromancer, Assassin, Mesmer.
Are there any current profession combo's that utilize one of those as the primary profession and is an effective farmer? I don't care if the secondary profession isn't one of those, as long as the primary one is.

Thanks for any help!

Assassins are one of the best farmers atm, but other prophecies can still farm effectivly, take a look here and see what you like.

The assassin can now keep Shadow Form up for ever with glyph of swiftness and Deadly paradox. Ele was able to do it, but SF got nerfed so you have a 1 sec down time. Raptor farming outside Reta Sum (EotN City) is popular now days. It will get you a lot of event items. UW ecto farm went through a lot over the last 2 years. The ecto price was down to 3k for a time with the perma SF sin farm. UW is nerfed for the most part to stop the solo sin. Necro is just the same as it was years ago. Not very good for farming. More of a support character still. Aura of the Lich now makes a minion army in one casting. The Mesmer never has been a farmer. i have not seen many builds for them to farm.

He only has Prophecies and Factions, that means no Perma Form. Every class can be successful, though without PvE skills I think Necromancer is your best bet. I would spend some time with each class just messing around, there's no reason to limit yourself to one character.
