Ok so I can start my game up but after I select my character the load screen of the city I'm entering pops up and it takes about an hour just for it to finish loading.
Any idea why?

snaek
its downloading the area
and u have an extremely slow internet connection (or u like to exaggerate)
add -image to the command line of gw.exe for it to pre-dl the whole game
so u dun have to sit thru loading screens of new areas

I'm not exxageration at all, seriously a full hour.
And my internet connection is fine, I can run it perfectly on my PC the load takes about 3 seconds.

Did you install from a disk or by downloading the client?
If you downloaded the client then it very well might take nearly an hour when you load into the first city, even with a fast connection.
A few months ago i had a corrupted dat file and had to delete and restore it. It took just about that long the first time I loaded after the character select screen.
after the first time, though, it should not be a problem.

Yeah just deal with it today, and tonight run an -image
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line
It will download all the files you need at one time and you can play with minimal loading.

I used the -image command and it works fine now, other than when I'm in game its very laggy.
But yes, I used my Guild Wars Cds to install the game, and yes I'm using the right internet connection.
I found this very odd, as i can play WoW, City of Heroes, Lineage 2 and Warhammer Online perfectly.
Any idea now on why its lagging so hard? Even on my PC the lag is quite intense.

Are you connecting wirelessly? If so, try running with a wired connection temporarily. If it runs well wired, that's your problem.
