Will GW run on a PS3?

Got a weird and wonderful query here. I've been looking at buying a PS3 and was looking at some of the linux installations that are possible. Has anyone tried to install GW on a linux distro on a PS3?

I personally have a few doubts about the possibility due to the PS3 only having 256mb of RAM, but I'm sure that there must be someone out there who's tried it or something similar.

As a laptop user, I quite fancy sitting on the couch at home playing GW on my nice big TV with a wireless keyboard & mouse. I know technically I can do that now by plugging my laptop in to the TV, but I can't help but wonder....

It can't, simply because when you install a Linux distro on the PS3, you don't have access to the 3D Accelerated features of the RSX GPU. That means most intensive 3D applications will not run.

The 256MB of RAM is XDR RAM, and as a result, could easily run GW thanks an extremely fast communication interface with the Cell. In addition, the RSX has its own 256MB of RAM to deal with. RAM isn't the limiting factor, it is simply a locked GPU.

NCSoft is working on porting some of their games to ps3.
