Connecting to Arenanet
Tito Bad Boy Ortiz
Ok so I just re installed windows vista ultimate and when i try installing gw from a disc (doesn't matter which version) the installation screen comes up and just says "Connecting to Arenanet" and the bar is stuck just under the R. I have turned off my firewall and this still happens so i really dont know what going on. Help is much appreciated.

I have the same problem, what I do is I copy my .dat file from the installed folder, to lets say the desktop, then I uninstall GW via the control panel, then I reinstall GW but as soon as it gets to the part of the install where it starts downloading files to a new .dat, I close it, copy the .dat from the desktop, and past it back into the gw folder, overwriting the .dat there which should be like 1kb or a little bigger.

Are you using NOD32? It's notorious for blocking GW even when turned off/deactivated.

Nah im not using NOD 32, thing is i cant even install gw atm it just gets stuck on the grey install screen.

Is it by any chance Norton firewall? It disables things even when switched off ._.

I dont have no firewall installed, just the windows one which i have turned off.

Strange. Maybe your disk(s) is/are faulty.
Which disks are you using to Install?

Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall, they usually work fine. They did on my last version of windows.

try downloading the game client from www.guildwars.com - then run the -image command overnight to get all your content....

Ok when i download the client off the site, and open the gw.exe it just says connecting to arenanet and gets stuck at 0%
