Profession Ranks
Lawliet Kira
I was thinking to have ranks in professions, like this:
Elementalist:
R1 Apprentice Wizard
R2 Mage
R3 Arch Mage
R4 ????
R5 ????
R6 ????
R7 ????
R8 ????
R9 ????
R10 Master of the Elements
Warrior:
R1 Warrior
R2 Paladin
R3 Templar
R4 ?????
R5 ????
R6 ????
R7 ????
R8 ????
R9 ????
R10 ?????
sry couldnt think of all ranks, but of course these would not be titles, just displayable ranks, and you would not be able to get warrior if you had E/W, so you cant get all 10, just 1.
These ranks would be achieved through experience only through certain places like elite areas quests, quest rewards so you cant just go raptor farm this. I just think it would be a fun addition to the game. And i dont think it would take much effort for them to implement this into the game.

My God, no. This community never ceases to amaze me with how stupid the suggestions can get.
If you want to level up one single character, go play WoW.

Yeay, more worthless grind as if we didn't already have too much as it was...

sorry, no, serves no purpose, does not make the game more fun, no new contents, I'd probably display that onces in a million year, and then everyone wants RETROSPECTIVE RANK ! it would create chaos and no good will come of it.

I'm confused at this. You want titles that aren't titles?

.
A little late for GW. Its not a bad idea!!. This system used to be used on muds (multi user dungeons) that came before graphics games. All guilds/clans used a similar system and it worked.
For the nay-sayers. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. This is a game, not a job.

I can see it now:
"LFG Arch Mage (r3)!"
"Lol, n00b get out! Only Wizards (r8) and up! lulz n00bz!"
How about we just keep the 20 levels? Ja?

i could maybe see the logic in adding something like this to HoM.
ie)
u enter it shows character name, their koabd rank etc. then it could say something like a profession rank, but don't make it a title.

Even though it has a nice intention it's a bad idea.

u can argue that there is no purpose to any of the titles.....wooo, u killed all the enemies in an area on HM, have a title. how much more pointless grind can u get than that? oh yeah, unlucky points -_-.... this actually sounds interesting. would provide the ability for some very cool title names. idk about it being for exp or what not. maybe it could be for filling out ur monument hall. there is a max number of things that could be put in there. take that number, split it into 10 different sections, create proffesion specific title rank names.... of course, that would mean the title would end up acount wide when the monuments go account wide. maybe it could just be for the character specific part of the monuments so that it rewards a person for playing a single character. but then that would piss off all the people that wan't to play multiple characters, boohoo, w/e. can't appease everyone. one great thing about it being according to the max number of things u can put in ur hall is that it would be extremely difficult to max, so it wouldn't be just another free maxed title. it would be a way of showing how well rounded a player is in many aspects of the game(equiping hero's, acquiring armor and weapons, pve maxed titles and doing pvp titles to the rank of being display) maybe neglect the mini-pet monument since new mini-pets are always being added. there would also be no worries about retro-activity if this type of title was implemented. idk, just ranting i suppose. i think it would be neat to be able to display ur monuments progression everywhere u go.

I'm gonna say no just cause examples are lame. Every freaking game and their cousin has Paladins and Arch Mages...
No, just no, too cliché.

come up with totally new and unique titles. those examples were only named because they were the 1st things that come to the OP's mind.

Agreed with above, and that it's too late (and that it serves no purpose honestly)

when people say that a title serves no purpose, what purpose do u expect it to serve? only a handful "technically" serve tangible purposes. eotn rep. titles, kurz/lux, ss/lb, lucky, chest, and wisdom. should we just remove all the other titles and just leave these 11 since the others "have no purpose". for a title to have a purpose, it just needs to display the fact that a person as accomplished a particularily difficult feat. if the action in question is worthwhile of doing and is moderately to highly difficult to accomplish, then the title for that action has a purpose. if the profession title suggested by the OP has the purpose of displaying ur accomplishments in the HoM instead of exp (like he suggested), then the title would have a reasonable purpose. I do agree that a title for exp doesn't serve a purpose because exp doesn't represent a difficult thing to acheive in the game. he made mention of elite areas and this would go along with the HoM title theme.

Uh.
EDIT: Face it, OP just wanted a nice "Master of the Elements" on his char. There's no other idea behind this thread.

i apologize, i was not clear. i meant that the names of the different teirs of this "profession title" suggested from the original poster should be completely original and unique instead of just ripping off names from other games that are just similar to the guild wars proffesions. i say this because u objected the title on a minor (yet reasonably understandable) detail that can be easily corrected.

well, at least it's new that PvE-ers are requesting rank-elitism rather than complaining about it ...

The important questions though ...
How would such an event be achieved ?
What would the acheivement offer ?
Is the idea any different to the existing mechanisms ?

I can understand that, I can even relate to it, in fact I too would love to be able to display that on my char !!

Dumb suggestion. Let this die.

Why to?
The only thing than can make one character more 'complete' than other is skills and number of attribute points.
Attribute points go with level, not with profession. And anyone can learn all skills.
We have elite skill titles already.
Althought something could be done to extend the stuff to all skills. Like a second rank or something like that.
But a title for experience? Senseless in GWO.
