Not really "ungodly" compared to Eremites' and such. Wild Blow disallows Body Blow (cracked armour woo!) and "SY!" (hitting a lot of shit woo!).

If you're a pussy with bad Monks, Critical Defenses. If you're a pussy with a bad team, Res Sig. If you're a brave ambassador of braveness, more domage.

D/x = Versatile More builds, but they all do the same job. Assassin still gets its MS/DB too, Warrior still gets its D-Slash and Earth Shaker (any other knockdown is uncomparable when it comes to PvE, and Warriors do it best). Dervs get Orders, WS and Reapers Sweep. Maybe Dwayna or Melandru.

In terms of versatility? I'd take the Warrior, being useful all around, but then again, I believe this thread is about scythe wielding.

Hi all, as this thread is alrdy open, and theres alot discussion here, I wanted to ask you all a little question aswell. Here goes: In general PvE, first NM to finish stuff and later mostly on HM, should I keep playing my dervish or would assassin be a better choice for PvE? To kill fast and do w/e else. Thanks all ^^

ah like that, hmm, I think you can do that with both without much trouble. Difference however is that sins are better for farming, so if you wanna max titles like, say, treasure hunter sin is a better choice.

First, let's assume this is solely about PvE... if you PvP, you should get good at a role, not at a profession (i.e., I play frontline in PvP, and am reasonably good at warrior, dervish, and melee ranger, and passable at assassin, despite only having a PvE dervish.)

Next, let's assume you don't play the game obsessively to the point of having eighteen characters with GWAMM and wish to focus on one or two main characters. If the former, make one of each.

Based upon those, and having played nearly all melee-types in other games, I was choosing between a dervish and a warrior. I chose the dervish for its versatility. While a warrior can tank better, a dervish is a passable tank. While a warrior can at least match the DPS/condition spam of a derv, a derv puts out nice amounts of dps and has good sources of deep wound.

But, a dervish can also farm well thanks to energy return on enchants (600derv + smite, 130hp derv, simple enchants + damage for easy stuff). No, it can't do it as well as a monk or rit, but it can do it; a warrior can't do serious farming at all. A dervish can also make a passable nuker -- with mysticism and 4 pips of energy regen, a dervish can handle many necro and ellie skills. And while it's nowhere near as good as a monk, a dervish can also put out reasonable spot-healing. All of these simply cannot be done by a warrior (or assassin).

It's not so much that a dervish is the best at any one thing. It used to be as good at DPS as any other character in the game while being extremely hard to shut down (thanks to avatars), but this isn't really true anymore. Generally, thanks to buffs to warrior elites, warriors put out a touch more DPS while having more utility. This is why dervs don't get used in PvP at this point.

However, the dervish is pretty good at a huge number of things, and this makes it a fun character to play in PvE. I have yet to get truly bored of my dervish -- when i want something new, I can change things up and play a different style on the same character -- something no warrior can do.

My first character was a ranger, then I played a warrior. I am now playing a Dervish and am very pleased with him. I have found that the Dervish deals out more damage than the warrior and has some really awesome skills. Using enchantments and the many healing spells that Dervishes come with can make up for any lack of hit points beneath what you get with a warrior. Must say, I wouldn't want to give up my dervish.

i think the reason so many people dont like derv is because in order to be effective you must change your build according to the situation. And since GW is the biggest META-game ever everyone wants 1 build that works everywhere... thats ok i guess but not the dervs strong suite. In order to be an effective derv u must be able to adjust. and dervs have much more versatilty then wars and sins as they pretty much have one build that works with a scythe and dervs can have a ton..and scythes>pve

A Dervish with Zealous VoW, Dwarven Stability, Whirling Charge, and Aura of the Holy Might deals more holy damage than anything else at a constant rate with infinite energy and 600ish hp and 85-90 armor while attacking potentially 3 targets at once. You also have the option of throwing in Save Yourselves along with Mystic Sweep, Protector's Strike, and Eremite's Attack to help your whole party relieve pressure. That's the bar I usually use.

Then again, what do I know

Reaper's Sweep has Bonus Damage. Reaper's Sweep has 2 conditional effects: if the target is above 50% hp, they lose an enchantment - if the target is below 50% hp, Deep Wound is applied.

Wounding Strike applies Bleeding, and applies Deep Wound if you are enchanted. No bonus damage. So you use a second skill, Malicious Strike, to get damage.

In a choice between 2 Conditions or Bonus Damage + Enchant Removal/Deep Wound, I'd go for the latter. Reaper's Sweep is better at bar compression.

That being explained, using Malicious strike after Reaper's Sweep (if you are strong and brave, and do not have idiot teammates) would work very nicely, and would serve as a great finisher - a follow-up attack to "trigger" the DW + bonus damage + critical hit (since the target would be suffering from DW). w00t.

wounding strike is'nt really necessary in PvE when things die so fast. It's better to just focus on dealing damage

it really comes down to personal preferance. I would personally go for a warrior based on my exp with that type of char. But from what i have heard, dervish's are just as good.
