Looks like there will be some AFK action from 6-9 pm on Feb 01. Cannot remember if they two events have always conflicted? Have two full sets of ingredients right now, will have to use em early. Anyone else joining in the AFK action during the superbowl? Go Cardinals! (Steelers have enough trophies )

Hmm... Weird because Chinese New Year is next Monday. I would have thought the event would be this weekend instead.

a little below middle of thread.

and wiki: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Canthan_New_Year_2009

Not sure if that is Official or not. Hope it is this weekend instead.

Maybe they can put the chefs in steelers and cardinals helmets!!

As long as you are in Shing Jea Monastery (with the chefs) you will get red gift bags based on how many dishes are completed by those people in the districts. If you can find a guild sponsored dist you should do Ok. 16 gift bags and 5 crates of fireworks max.

They were added to the Canthan New Year 2008 event. So they will no doubt make an appearence in the 09 event.

If all dishes are completed: 16 gift bags and 5 crates of fireworks max. 2 gift bags if the district is really bad.

Who mentioned the pig (from my avvy)...I think actually the pig was only during one year and im pretty certain they put 9 rings in last year.
I always get confused between Canthan new year, dragon festival and birthday celebration
EDIT: checked wiki yes this is the one where i do all the quests and use up all my materials on fireworks etc love it

Your boys do look much better than the cards!

If the Cards get blownout (likely) then I can just play GW without distractions. Computer and Plasma in same room but always end up missing something on one or the other. If it is a good game going to be AFK.

For each ingredient a player provides, they receive 1 lunar token.

last year there was uproar over the overpopulated pig so they had to have a trade 5 regular pigs for celestial one. The Rat was from the lunar tokens like the pig was from the previous year. For quite a few reasons it will make sense that there will be no trade in minis this year and our mini oxe (celestial) will come from lunar tokens of this year.

shhhh dont tell anyone about that ox will be worth more if less people know

Sold about half of my pigs a few months prior to that, fortunately had enough to still get the celestial pig.

Is the best option for lunar fortunes rock paper scissors or getting lunar tokens or 10 from red bags(10% chance)? I dont mind farming but the idea of playing rock paper scissors for the whole weekend is not appealing. may be buying many tokens/fortunes that weekend.

only 3 days....good thing there is only 3 super easy/quick quests to do....(need the party points, sooo close yet---)....

this rat will be sad to see the year come to an end (and yes I, myself, have all the ingredients for one district for one time so that I will get yet more totally useless crates of fireworks---)....would rather the pet came if your dist completed the dishes like first year, but like gee we couldnt possible have a gold cheap mini could we???? Maybe they could have the reg ox (like the reg pig) come that way and a gold celestial one only from the red bags---now there would be an answer that wouldnt make everyone qq or whatever it is they do....

and super bowl of what??? cookies????

I was really hoping this wouldn't happen, since that would probably encourage mass AFKing during the event, but oh well. I don't watch football, and the commercials will be on YouTube later, so I can just play all weekend and not care otherwise.

Had to lol at this, ever checked out salaries in baseball and soccer, nfl is peanuts compared to that. Can't afford those salaries by not bein lucrative. Many outside the US (and probably a bunch within) don't even know what Superbowl is.

You should probably read this.

It's pretty sad if you think anyone who lives outside of America cares about football. Even Canadian has their own league and would care less about the NFL.

I never understood why people from other countries feel the need to insult American football.

I mean, I'm American, but I also know the rules of and enjoy Rugby, Soccer (Football), and even Cricket (sorta). There is no reason to insult/follow a sport JUST out of some perverse "national pride."

And sorry Fril. Fates Monk's cold hard statistics still beats random speculation any day. American Football is still more profitable then football/soccer. And if you start trying to count various club teams, we can just throw in College American Football teams, like USC who has a consistant 8.3 in the Neison Ratings, or Notre Dame, who has an exclusive contract with NBC. Lots of money.

The only reason the season is shorter and there are less cups and games and things isn't because of lack of fanbase, but because, like Rugby, the players beat the crap out of each other over the course of a season and players need more time to recoop.

I was hoping for this weekend too, because the one after the next (1 feb) I'll be at a ... *wonders what the English word for "herenzitting" is* ... well, it's a get together for gentlemen, as a prelude to carnival, with funny performances and music/singers, and LOTS of beer, and starts at like 11.00 in the morning xD
Needless to say I'll be wasted that day. So yeah afk-ing in a guild-hosted district on the 9 rings will be a good idea. I can do the quests saturday.

If you are looking for a district to hang out in check here:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10350658

Be careful some guilds are going to hop districts, I guess they have a huge dislke for AFK people or the superbowl or both.
