Hi all,
I've been thinking about returning to Guild Wars, but I havn't played since a couple of months after release, what I wanted to know was if I only own the original Guild Wars at the moment and none of the expansions, am I'm going to be missing out on lots of new low level content from the expansions?
Thanks

i suggest you wait for GW2 instead of buying any expansion, unless money isnt an issue
exactly what kinds of low level content are you thinking of? traditionally in GW, lowlevel areas have never yielded anything worth remembering, content wise or other since its just a buildup for the lvl20 areas in the later stages of the game.
Maybe your referring to the expansions as a whole, in that case yes you will miss quite much, like heroes, alot of elite skills etc. check guildwiki or official website for further info. Personally, i would just wait since theres not much time to advance your characters before new gw is out.

hmm, how long until GW2 is due roughly? because if it's soon i'll just wait for it, and play just the original in the mean time.

Factions has a very fast trip from level 1-20, and quite limited low level content. It's not the slow pace that you expect from Prophecies, as most of the game is geared towards level 20 characters. Nightfall did try and slow down the pace somewhat, but again, there are only 2 missions before you're on the mainland facing level 20(ish) foes. EoTN was originally purely intended for level 20 characters, however they added a buff for low level characters so they are on par with with level 20 content.

I certainly wouldn't wait until GW2, as there is no known release date, beta announcement, screenshots, artwork etc. It's a bit of a mystery to us all really.

However, I would add, that if you enjoyed prophecies, the $10 that you'd pay now for most of the expansions is well worth it.

Daenara is perfectly correct.

Though I would get the rest of the Guild Wars series as they will buff your GW2 account in some manner. (through this Hall of Monuments thing in Eye of The North).

I've only played for a year, and only in my spare time. Beating them all is not an issue, also doing so will open up many fun things to do throughout the campaigns. Guild Wars is nothing like it was after initial release but much more fun

support anet, they could use the money lol
trilogy set for all 3 campaigns is only $50, and the eotn expansion can be had for $10

but to answer ur op
no, ur not really missin out
the campaigns are not really integrated with each other in terms of content

wut i mean is u play one, then another, then another, then another...all separately
while u can travel from one campaign to another, no quests or missions require u to do so*
*(a few exceptions...but they r completely extra, i.e. gettin a moa chick minipet)

and multi-tasking multiple storyline campaigns is not really recommended on a first playthrough
though once u get the hang of the game, most ppl do it since it offers many advantages of getting things faster
but i wouldnt worrie bout that (efficiency, etc)... jus enjoy the game ^__^

edit: the only thing i would recommend would be to pick up the starter heroes from nitefall and/or eotn
