AB server

I don't have a problem with waiting, but some ppl have, and leave, and we have to start searching for ppl again, and that's stupid...
i agree, that chatting during waiting is not only good, but it makes time pass faster..
and i agree that sth should be done but i'm sure nothing will be done, so i'll use the phrase of the year 2008-2009: "Maybe, in GW2..!" xD

You're lucky then, I've had to wait up to 15 minutes to get in a match that's only 6 or 7 minutes long at times. Waiting time is really a problem in AB. Though I always thought that was because the Luxons wouldn't show up as that only happens when we're in Kurizck territory, the reason why I stopped playing in the Ancestral Lands at all. Have better things to do than to wait endlessly in an outpost.

Is it indeed connected to the server load? I always thought it was the lack of players on the other side...

This has NOTHING to do with server limitations. The whole AB/FA doesn't have enough server things is an urban legend that has been disproven dozens of times.
Its been around since the Factions PvP preview weekend. It was never proven by anything substantial.
Other games with PvP of a similar type have the same problem. For example, on Warhammer online, you can join a scenario queue and it will sometimes take around 15 minutes to join. This has nothing to do with server limitations. It is clearly not a technological issue since it occurs universally over any MMO type game. There just aren't enough players at any point to always have a nice even number of teams. If there is any sort of imbalance in server population between the two sides, there will be wait times.
Example:
Get 16 friends together. Have 8 try to get in on the Luxon side of Fort Aspenwood, and 8 try to get in from the Kurzick side at the same time. At least one of the player is GUARANTEED to join the fight the very first time, because there will always be enough people for a fight then.
12 people on a team to start an AB. So lets say there are 144 people in the Luxon side waiting to join an AB battle. That would be 12 separate teams. Now, flip over to the Kurzick side, and there may be 30 people. Enough for 2 teams, but not enough for a 3rd. That would mean 10 of the Luxon teams have to wait.
As said, it isn't an issue with the servers.

Gaile, can you please reiterate that there is no "server" or "game" limit (max number of games that can be going on at once) set for Fort Aspenwood? Everyone and their cousin seems to think only 2 games at once can be played.--Ryudo 03:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC) Yes, that's correct. As long as there are full teams to oppose one another, another game will spawn. No limits, really! -- Gaile 05:58, 11 March 2008 (UTC) |

I'd much rather have rewards for attacking side on Lands/Kanai increased.
As it stands there is no point to be attacker on either of those two, unless you are playng some griefing build or incredibly bored or just plain stupid... so people just leave AB, resulting in retarded wait times for defending side.
Needless to say that also dramatically drops quality of average player in attacking AB district, which results in circle of frustration with bad teams and even more apathy.

Firstly there is 0 wait time, you make a group and ur in the first try usually.
Secondly you may lose more often but faction-wise its pretty even ive found, in the time it takes to get into a Kaanai game you could have already finished a game in Lands on bad days you can even finish 3 games in Lands in the time it takes to finish one in Kaanai.
Lastly theres the points, a good loss on Lands (400+) is not that much off a win plus if you win well that's just even better. The best thing to do is get a group of 4 friends and make a decent balanced group, you will be surprised at how much more often you win at these maps. Then again not many people do AB for faction anymore however i can't stand doing JQ or FA.
So yeah that's about it, more wins doesn't always mean more points.

i think that the Alliance Battles issue needs to be addressed. spending 10 min waiting to join is simply absurd, i've had up to 23 waiting to join cycles before i finally got a match. perhaps expanding the server or having multiple areas to split up the player load.
