Farming ranger type

I was looking through the ranger builds, and 2 caught my eye. Touch ranger, or trapper. But I cant decide which one to make, im looking for one that is more versatile, and pretty much a better farmer. For current rangers, which do you prefer?

wouldnt run any of the two to be honest ^^ but it's up to you
not even sure if solo trapping is still possible <- my ranger is unplayed for 6months now
touching will be hard to solo things in a group it should do ok'ish, i think it's possible to touch vaettirs

Trapper sucks imo

So does a toucher too. Neither are good farmers.


Personally I'd used a FoW farmer for a ranger build if you're planning on farming.


But to answer your question: Toucher I suppose

Touchers can farm more places than Trappers.

Nothing much drops for trappersn since ANet implemented the loot nert to kill drops by the rate at which you kill them. Because trapping kills all mobs in an instant, you get very little, so its a really bad farming technique unless you are explicitly after loot nerf excluded items (eg. rare mats like ectos or gold items), even then, its a very slow process. Trapping is good for underworld and veil, after that there isn't much point.

Touchers on the other hand benefit from the loot nerf, they kill one at a time and slowly, so they get to farm with nearly no impact of the loot nerf. There are also more places you can farm with a toucher, including the underworld. You can even vanquish Scandals Rise. Its not a fast build for farming, but effective, its also good at farming certain bosses fast.
