Hey all,
Been having an oddly difficult time logging in to GW, receiving the 058 error, though it's not actually on my end (see"*") and after trying multiple, sometimes many times, I'm able to finally get on. Once I'm logged in, I'm fine. Have had some major lag here and there, but otherwise, no problems.
*It began actually the very day they scheduled maintenance for that night.
*My wife logs in on one shot, through the same router/connection with no problems. I have to try at least ten to fifteen times (sometimes more), ever since the maintenance.
I was thinking it has to do with where individual account information is stored on their servers, and something was "nerfed"? If so, is there anything I can do about it?
I considered a reinstall, though that wont help if my account info is currently on a server that has issues, and this only started after their maintenance.
I'm not going to even attempt to contact tech support. I've tried that in the past, only to receive fifty generic emails telling me to check my router, modem, connection etc. which is not the problem. I have at least 12 online games I'm still currently playing, and have no problems with any others (I'm on my PC now).
Suggestions?
Thanks much.

If you're not considering NCSoft support, then there's nothing else we can tell you. As you've stated, the problem isn't on your end.

Has anyone else experienced this problem recently?
Could it be that something happened with my account info, such as where it's stored etc. with the maintenance they performed?
If so, I suppose I've no choice but to try to contact them, but I'd like to know if anyone else has been experiencing this and if it eventually resolved.
We're on the West Coast, btw... thanks.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's difficult to cut through all the junk they throw at you. From what you've described, the problem does seem to be server-side. I would consider calling your ISP, but since your wife can login with no issues, it's obviously not that.
With that said, if anyone else experiences any login issues of this nature, please post here with details. I'll try and redirect as many people here as I can.
Thanks.

Would definitely appreciate you directing anyone else here who's had this issue, and hopefully it gets resolved here soon. I don't know if it's an area issue or an account/server issue.
Yeah, it's a bit difficult to deal with all the back-and-forth with their tech support and all the nonsense they tend to throw at you. Especially when you know it's not on your end and have been building PCs for over a decade... drives me crazy, heh.
I've never had this happen quite like this for this long, and as you've said, it's not my ISP, because my wife logs in fine, I was fine before the past week+, and I've other online games I play just fine.
Anyway, thanks again. I appreciate your feedback/help.

If your wife is logging in ok then its pretty obvious that the problem can only be with your computer or connection to your router. If you're on wireless connection try to move computer or router around to get a stronger signal. If its wired you might want to check the cables. Maybe get new ones if you bought cheap cables. Also try flushing your DNS cache, in cmd prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns
If your wife is connecting from someplace else, using a different ISP then there could be problems with your ISP or the route from your ISP to Anet's servers.

And, to add to what Fusa said, can your wife ('s computer) log on to your account without problems?
I would agree with Fusa, you probably have a weak wireless signal or a bad wired cable.
If it's wired, try a new cable and/or plug your cable into a different socket on the router. Check that the little retention tab on both ends of the cable is not broken - that can cause the cable to slide out of the connector. Check you network card and/or drivers.
If it's wireless, try orienting the antenna(s) on the router for best signal strength (usually vertical). Or, try repositioning the router or you computer for a better signal.

Exactly. So, quick suggestion... gotta read a little closer there, guys
- Wife and I use the same ISP.
- Flushed DNS was the first thing I tried.
- I have a huge number of online games I play (mainly FPS, but that's irrelevant).
- I don't ever use "cheap anything", including cords, with my PC builds (running a $2.5k system right now in total) and have been doing this for eleven years.
- Already spoke with my ISP, with a guy who ironically plays GW himself (a lot of people in this city do) and there's no problems on their end with connection Anet's server, my wife connects fine and I was up until a week-and-a-half ago.
- No A/V updates have caused problems.
...and all it seemed to take was a reinstall, lol!

Was the last resort, but GW is also infamous for that, though I didn't think it would require it.
So, if anyone has a problem like this, where you can login but have trouble and it takes anywhere upwards of 20x's of trying... reinstall first, as that seems to "fix" what ever "problem" causes this issue.
Perhaps a note somewhere in your tech section here (which is great, btw) would be appropriate, since this was an odd issue. Usually when you cannot login, you cannot login at all, regardless of the number of attempts.
Well, there it is... seems to be fine, for now.
Katsumi, thanks for your patience and willingness to keep the thread alive until this odd issue was resolved. Much appreciated.
Have a good one, folks

You just proved it was a problem with your computer since reinstalling just fixed your problem.

Glad it's fixed.
