Anet has stated that thy will create a major update every 4 months.
Wouldn't it be great that one of them (preferably one of the firsts), will be an update to the quests and maybe missions.
After finishing the campaign and unlocking hard mode there isn't much to do with it, yes vanquishes and runing the area are fun, but there aren't any HM only quest chains or maybe even a mission or few missions.
Maybe even give some quests for unanswered locations in the game, like the dead shining blade in Magus Stones.

New content would be great, but it won't happen. Seriously, they have no people working on GW anymore, all are on GW2. Getting even the simple stuff done takes a long time, which is why updates are going to be farther apart.

Well, there are some quests that were half made and are lost in time.
It won't be bad at all to bring back the quest about killing rotscale.

They actually said they were expanding their GW1 team in order to develop more content for us...
From Linsey Murdock's Official Guildwiki Page:
Content Updates
Content updates will be done separately from the monthly maintenance and occur every three to four months. By spacing out our content releases, we gain the time to tackle larger and more difficult projects that, previously, would've been impossible. Some features that once seemed unattainable are now being explored as upcoming projects. We are even expanding the Live Team to offer more of the best quality support and content that we can for Guild Wars. With this new system, we release our new content in fewer yet more substantial updates. We want players to feel connected to what we are developing even though it may be months away from release, so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on.
