Anything about World PvP in GW2?
Wretchman Drake
I've read some articles, and one that briefly explained what type of battles World PvP may have but nothing really informative...
My questions being, does anyone know if
a.) Will diff races hate each other? (faction rivalries)?
b.) Will there be any form of PvP in the actual game world? (i.e. is there a chance to encounter player enemies during questing?)
c.) Is World PvP only going to be some type of structured PvP? (i.e. only in certain areas, not applicable to the entire 'world'?)
d.) Do YOU think there is going to be any incentive to actually world pvp besides 'for fun'?
I did read, if I'm correct, that World PvP will mainly be server vs. server battles...

We will just have to find out I can't wait till beta

I can't wait either... But I would very much like for my points a.) and b.) to be part of the game... It says in the GW2 wiki that now the charr are still the enemies to the humans, so it just wouldn't make sense for charr players to cooperate with humans both NPCs and players.

However if I remember correctly it also said that all the races will have to unite against a larger and more dangerous enemy. So it would make sense for the charr and humans to cooperate.
If you ask me not enabling players to interact due to some stupid lore is rediculous. It limits the game play far to much, lets say I really want to be a charr but my friend hates them and wants to play a human. Due to our game preferences then we wouldn't be able to play together and that to me is a massive game design flaw.
If you ask me all the races should be purely only for aesthetic purposes with maybe some different quests/storylines, they should definitely not implement race specific attributes for similar reasons as above. It limits game play choices. What made GW so good was the fact that I could use any weapon skin I wanted, with any armour skins that I wanted and not have to suffer sub-optimal stats because you could have the same stats on any weapon.
If you introduce race specific stats into a competitive game, you force players to play say a charr if they want to play a Warrior role or an Asuran if they want to play a Caster role and this limits their game play options.

a) no one knows
b) no one knows
c) from what I've understood from the articles is that World PvP will be like Alliance Battles but on a much grander scale. No organization but with certain goals to achieve before your team wins.
d) I've read somewhere that winning World Battles will give your entire server some sort of buff or benefit (like we gain or lose favor in GW1). Of course, you can still switch freely between servers the way you can with districts in GW1.

We DO NOT KNOW how the game will be setup.
We DO NOT KNOW how the races will interact.
We DO NOT KNOW if when GW2 is released it will even resemble the devs original ideas.

World PvP seems to be on par with AB but with a WAY huger scale and continuous, I looks like it will be server v. server so It might be like HA was and thats how you will get favor in GW2.
