I got a HD4850 in my Computer atm.
Do I need to buy a 280GTX to play most games at highest setting when my resolution is 1680x1050 ?

Can you play games at 1680x1050 right now?
That's the quickest way to find out.

Well.... the GTX280, or the revised version GTX285, is the best single GPU card out there at the moment. It beats the HD4850 everywhere. But the HD4850 isn't a bad card by all means, you should be able to play most games at that resolution with that card. Alternatively, and probably cheaper too, you can get a second HD4850, if your Motherboard supports Crossfire.

what you have is sufficient at 1680x1050. i have one too, and i haven't found anything that can stress it yet.

other than Crysis you ought to play everything at MAX settings with that resolution, and have more than playable to excellent FPS - assuming you have a decent dual core or quad core CPU and at least 2 Gigs of RAM - I have a 4850 and I love that card.

If you are mostly interested in GW, the HD4850 should be able to run it at maxed settings at 1680x1050. (WoW too.)
Outside of that, I wouldn't worry about it until/if you run into a game that you can't handle. An HD4870, HD4870x2, or GTX260/280 would be overkill for GW.
