Of the 4 confirmed non-human races of GW2, we now have tonics for 3...

Makes me wonder if the big April update will also contain a Sylvari Tonic (April also happens to be the last spot on the Zaishen Rewards Calendar). Anyone care to wager on it? hehe

of course, now that I've posted this, it wont happen

Would be interesting if they did implement that one next month. Would be pretty cool. Charr tonic is awesome though.

Actually, I expect Sylvari next month, and a new, unannounced GW2 race for the final one. It's release will coincide with a torrent of GW2 hype. That brings us up to 6 playable races, analogous to GW1's core classes. (And surely, just 4 character slots or something....)

Don't get your hopes up, better think about it, they aren't making those tonics because they're GW2 races but because they're popular GW1 races, all of them already existing in game. Sylvari would be an entirely new thing, would have to be designed and put in. It may be a ton of work considering they got no artists on the Live Team and chances for easy model and animations conversion from one designed for GW2 back to GW1 are very very slim.

As I've said in other threads, and in game...

The Monthly Tonics use existing models of the games, so it is highly unlikely - as in minimal - that Sylvari will ever come out as a Tonic.

In my opinion, the last two will be Tengu and Mursaat.

Sylvari do not yet exist in the GW 1 time line, nor are there any models for them, as already mentioned.

I'd expect a Sylvari to be released at around the same time as any major GW2 announcement. They'd probably want to coordinate their hype for maximum impact. As such, I doubt next month. Too early for the big GW2 reveal.

I'd have to agree with Greyhawk and say Dwarven for March, and Sylvari for April - coinciding with some new GW2 information.

That being said however, I bet that they'll release a Dwarven tonic and then a raptor tonic or something along those lines.

As somebody has already mentioned, if ArenaNet seriously releases a Sylvari tonic for the final month, then they are putting something into the Guild Wars 1 game that effectively doesn't exist. The Sylvari won't exist for another 100 or more years in the lore, so unless ANet wants to use a huge logic loophole or admit that their story lines are written by third graders, then they won't sell out just for a lousy tonic.

There are better ways to shill Guild Wars 2 than a tonic. If anything, I'd say that a tonic is the dumbest way to promote a future release game. Not to mention that the character design will probably change between now and the final release anyway.

Logic loophole be damned, it'd be cool and get the community enormously pumped to see a little sliver of GW2 walking around in GW1 with them. It doesn't make much sense for heroes to be turning themselves into monsters in the middle of populated towns either, but we don't question it. Who cares if the character design changes between now and release? We're gonna have humans, charr, norn, and asura in GW2 as well, and we already have plenty of examples of those. If the design changes between GW1 and GW2, so be it! The point is that you have players walking around as something new, something never seen before, and that will get players (who otherwise might not see the GW2 info releases) asking questions and searching for GW2 info...and ideally it would be provided simultaneously. It'd be a great way to break the silence with a bang, provided of course they're ready to do so.

Seriously, if next month's tonic turns out to be a dwarf, the hype will already reach a higher level than it's been for at least 6 months.

Exactly! Like how in the original Star Trek series - the Klingons were basically tan-skinned humans with facial hair - and then later on in the movies/Next Generation series, they 'mysteriously' transformed into huge monster-looking humanoid-dudes

So yeah - shouldn't be a problem if ANet releases a Sylvari tonic now and then changes the design later

I don't think so considering that they would have to create a GW model of the sylvari.

^ Well, considering the last big thing they made was M.O.X., I don't think it would be a bad thing that they model the Sylvary for that.

But I really doubt it will happen. For sure, might get a Dwarf one...
