My sources cite reduction of ad revenue and recent traffic decline, combined with the low economy.
I'm told its unlikely to return as what it was - BRB is just the domain name which still has value, the data servers are bye bye.
Hey, I'm a former Site Manager for the AmpGW side. The site has been closed due to not able to maintain the cost of the servers. A rather few bad Business Partners and then some Personal things with the three Devs of the Network has lead to the closing.
For the entire Network that isn't an option, as well.. its not. I wasn't an owner, I just managed one of the Network sites. Though the Gameamp Guides are working on a site. And I we plan to host alot of the Guides and Maps that we put on the GameAmp Network.
nooooeeezzzz D: !!!! Tell me its a bad joke I can believe it notthat site was so aweasome and actually had good players on it and it was a site that tought me to GW three years ago. Rest in peace Gameamp... *cries*
yeah, sad day, gameamo was filled with some comedy gold threads, it kept me entertained for hours on end sometimes just reading some of the stuff on there XD
GameAmp was the best of the best and I am really sad to hear they are gone.
GameAmp covered so many games and employed so many wonderful people, it was in my opinion the best site of it's kind on the web and I know that I will miss it.
I remember back when Factions came out and everyone was angry because it was so, so, so, very, very, very, very, bad , all the "official elite fan forums" like this one, were blocking posts that had anything to do with Factions, and threatening to ban anyone that spoke anything that they didn't like; but not GameAmp. They created a Forum called the "Factions Rage" Forum and they let people speak what was on thier mind.
They did the same thing when Gina Buenoberas was named CR, a lot of people had things to say and the "official sites" censored everything while GameAmp simply contained the stuff in it's own forum. The same was true with the Loot scaling and ursan blessing issues.
We live in a time where companies no longer have to have any kind of integrity and the ideas, views and thoughts of people are easily censored and ignored.
GameAMP had integrity. GameAmp had both the courage and the intestinal fortitude to create an environment where people could communicate without censorship.
This is a monumental loss for all of us.
The virtual streeta of virtual heaven are too crowded with virtual angels tonight.
Rest in peace and honor GameAmp. You are missed ; more than you know.
