I was watching a convo in game last night, about someone "farming and building a char" could someone please explain what they are and how you do them...please use simple words and don't blind me with game speak, cos I won't understand a word, I am 49 and female after all, although I do have the advantage of not being blonde....that doesn't actually help matters in my case as I have too many senior and muppet moments as it is

Well farming is "when one or more players go to a certain region and attack creatures and/or bosses attempting to obtain rare items, experience and gold. This is generally done by using specific builds that are created to be used solo or in a group to amass wealth." -Taken from the wiki page here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Farming
And 'building up a char' is simply creating a character (char for short) and getting up to the level 20 limit and then picking your eight skills carefully to accomplish certain tasks.

Farming and Building up a char probably means they are farming money on one character to spend on a new char they are building up to be equiped.

If you want to see what you can "farm" with your characters, there is a sticky in the Campfire section Farming subforum that will help.

As stated, farming is the repeated killing of either specific enemies or groups of enemies to get a specific item or gold.
Building up a character entails buying skills, armor, runes, weapons and so-on.
