Finally upgrading my monitor and I had a few different choices in mind and was wondering if any of you guru folk might have the same monitor or just an opinion on which might be the best for me. I will be playing games on it with my pc and with my consoles and possibly watching hdtv with it.

Thanks

I'd tend to go with the Samsung, or a Sony, off the bat, since these use Samsung LCD panels, which have a 0 dead pixel warranty. Make sure it does apply to your device before using that as a deciding factor, since it was a while ago when I looked into it. It's also the only one with a built in TV tuner, though this may not be an issue for you.

Hanns-G are a reputable budget TFT producer, but they're known for their budget screens. That said, I was running a 19" widescreen Hanns-G for about 3 months, and it was fine.

Asus aren't really known for TFT's. But, to be fair, if Asus are willing to put their name on it, I doubt it's bad. It also has the best reviews on newegg so I'd probably go for that.

I have 3 Asus Monitors and I love them all. I'd go with Asus anyday... Samsung and Sony are top notch too... I've only used Hans-G once and I didn't care for the visual quality of that particular model.

Personally i'd rule out the samsung from the choices due to the 5ms response time. And before anyone says it... yes, you can see a difference between a 5ms and a sub-5ms panel if you have an even half sharp eye.

While Samsung does have amazing panels, the TOC you have there isn't their best model... to put it lightly.

Honestly, the ASUS monitors have been receiving very positive feedback (reviews on professional websites, not just Newegg's crappy reviews)

That said, I think the ASUS is your best bet. Hanns-G is ok... but nothing compared to the newer ASUS monitors.

Best brands are:

Samsung (non ToC models)
Sony (mainly their TVs, not monitors)
AOC (their 22" is a beast)
LG (good panels, have heard issues with dead pixels)
ASUS (rave reviews so far)
Viewsonic (only for high end buyers, best on the market if you want a professional monitor, but get ready to pay for it)
