Getting straight to the point, I'd like the ability to sculpt our character models with a great deal more detail. In my case I'd like to be able to edit the character model to remove the models left arm. I'd like to have a character model that more closely represents the challenges i have overcome. I'm sure there are many others like myself that are distinctly aware that the human body is not a perfect machine and warriors defending their homes tend to take home more than just scars.

It may seem silly but in a way seeing a handicapped character compete on par with normal character models helps remind the player community not to belittle handicapped people in real life, or at least i hope.

thank you for your time,
theo

I am all for additional character customisation but I am unsure as to whether including amputees would be viable in keeping with the games mechanics, seeing as how it would be implausable that your character could use "offhands" such as shields or Foci in addition to say a wand or sword, although two handed weapons such as staves or hammers could technically be viable. It would also involve entirely new animations for attacks. Unlikely that it will be implemented sadly, maybe in GW2.

I understand what you mean, but I reckon too many people would abuse it, or just do it "for fun", without the sentimentality behind it, which you have.

I dunno about loosing arms O_o, but when I think about better character creation, I think of using scales instead of set faces/hair colors, etc. Like since there's a scale for how tall, there should be one for how fat. Instead of using set color's for hair, you could use whatever that box with all the colors in it is called and click to the color you want. Changing the shape of your face to your liking, etc etc. I think this kind of creating with scales other then set faces would be nice for gw2.

mm, hopefully GW2 will have more character customization. With the character development that has gone into Aion I think we can be hopeful that Anet will follow suit.

yeah...cuz we do that kind of stuff in GW.....

This wouldn't even be good for GW2 since your warrior would be useless with one arm or one leg. Most customization yes, but not ways to cripple your character forever.

I agree. I think to many would see it as an amusement rather then in the way you want it to be. It would also be to violent for younger GW-players I think, if Arena-net should make just as "realistic" as the rest of the game

that's the biggest load of bullshit i've seen in a while.
oh look, that person is roleplaying as an amputee, i feel a whole new level of respect for little timmy in the wheelchair down the street. surely if that person's avatar can do the same things as my 4-limbed avatar little timmy's physical limitations must be equally irrelevant and he should be able to do anything he puts his mind to.

Well getting to the point, making a character with a missing limb wouldn't really make sense lore/game wise. With resurrection spells and thing like mending and troll ungent for example, we technically already lose limbs from skills like dismember. Am I right? So my understanding was that limbs, cuts, burns and any other damage to the body just gets regenerated.

I see... the chosen ones are blessed by the gods.
Even if they burn in lava they will come back again unscratched.

You can't make a chosen one without one arm, and all playable characters in GWO are chosen ones.

I'm diabetic, so making a character creation which allows me to die from eating too many Chocolate Bunnies would be good! I'm deaf, so making a character that gets no benefits from Warrior and Paragon shouts would be good! Do you see where this leads?

/unsigned because this is a game, and certain real world things have no place in the game play.

It wouldn't have the OP's desired effect. In fact, it would have the exact opposite effect due to the "anonymity of the internet." (Just look at some of the responses here and multiply the insensitivity 1,000 fold.) And, a one-armed character would be at a disadvantage equipment wise, as others have stated. And that means your character would have a harder time getting into a group than Mesmers ever did!

WTB Timmmmaayyyyy in a wheelchair.

Sorry, this is a fantasy game. I don't want to play a character with the same problems i have IRL, I play to escape.

You've dealt with and maybe overcome the loss of your arm. That's great. But wanting it in a game...that goes a little above and beyond reasonable. Isn't displaying your accomplishment IRL enough?

yeah the sort of unique customization your talking about wouldn't make any sense physically with the game.

A one armed warrior or sin using a shield or daggers?
One legged any prof running around?

I don't find the current character system to bad. They should take the setup from Oblivion, for the character creation, and customizing Classes.

not a bad idea
but I found oblivion's character customization a little too in-depth.
I mean I don't need my characters nose width a certain amount.

maybe like a little down graded version for GW2 would be sweet
