ranger every time...

just as r/p stays as part of the classic meta in HeroBattles - ergo it must be better otherwise people would be using the combo the other way around...and stance expertise is fantastic as this build will not be using leadership to any particular use - so ranger gains the advantage of primary attribute

hope that helps...

and r/p with pet can inflict, poison, burning, bleed, cripple and whatever else you stipulated as a condition....and r/p synergise nicely with pretty much all teambuilds

The paragon part isn't too necessary at all really. Right now a burning arrow ranger with flail is pretty common, but it usually doesn't do poison. You could drop the standard read the wind for apply poison though.

For pvp I wouldn't bother with pets, and the spear ranger thing isn't too great because you miss out on dshot. The R/P hero battle thing is hardly something I'd look to for pvp inspiration, unless you're just planning on doing hero battles when you say "pvp." And then you're probably including FA, JQ, AB, and RA in your definition of pvp. If that's the case, you can get by running whatever you feel like.

i run a p/r in ab all the time.. but u have to think outside the box as far as the skills go..um no i dont use a pet either.. i mena think about it.. poison->bleeding->burning->deep wound and M.Resistance says hi ( think outside the box )

Be someone special and do p/r imo r/p like a belly button.. everyone has one.

Expertise > Leadership, especially in arenas. Leadership is amazing when you're in an 8 player group, but if you're just starting off casual pvp, expertise is the way to go. Firstly I would check out the build that Lyynyyrd posted, it is meta for a reason. There are variants using [enraged lunge] or [strike as one], but I suggest you start with that basis.

As many have suggested go R/P (expertise & e-regen, stances, armor).

A side note to your build and degen pressure:
Health Degeneration is capped at -10 pips.

- Poison (-4) and Bleeding (-3) are -7 pips (-14 dps)
- Burning (-7) and Bleeding (-3) are -10 pips (-20 dps)

Stacking all three of them isn't incredibly useful since you hit the degen cap. I advice to look at non-degen conditions as covers and additional benefit like Cripple ([[maiming spear]), Deep Wound ([[Merciless Spear]) or Weakness ([[Anthem of Weariness]).

I find a R/W Flail-Turret or Melandru's Ranger far more effective then any R/P in terms of damage and applying conditions. The R/P shines though in terms of self defense and solo capabilities. Don't bring R/P Builds in organized teams, that are not HB.
