Hey people,
I have lately had a problem that makes Guild Wars frustrating to play.
This problem is off and on and has no specific timings as to when it'll happen.
My problem is when I log in I sit watching the "Connecting...." screen for both sign in and char select screen. Furthermore, when I am playing the game I may just change district or something and it'll sit on 0% loading screen - damn frustrating! There is never any error messages and I have to sometimes restart GW and do this a couple of times maybe before I get in.
Your probably gonna' question two things now: broadband connection and PC specs.
Broadband: 8Mb - getting 7Mb+ download / ~1Mb upload when I do speed tests. (Connected by wire, rather than wireless.)
^Talked to my ISP, tried different speed profiles, etc. No effect for GW.
No exchange issues, either. (Living in the UK btw, you can probably tell already!)
PC Specs: AMD Quad Core, 4Gb RAM, Nvidia 8800GT, Vista 64-bit.
^No virus and/or malware - run scans often. ^^
When I run the -diag Network diagnostic, under the network connections I get more TIME_WAIT, CLOSE_WAIT and FIN_WAIT_1 more than there are ESTABLISHED. What do they all mean? :/ And also, how come there are more IPs listed sometimes than other times?
Furthermore to this issue, my other half could be playing Guild Wars fine - she has no problems (more-or-less same spec. PCs) - while I am suffering not even getting to load places (and vice-versa).
Could anyone shed some light to this issue?
No response from Anet after a couple days. QQ.
Thanks in advanced!

Well I had a few suggestions until u said that ur "other half" has no issues running on the same connection...
So at this point the only thing I can come up with is, try re-installing...

I don't know why, but when I play GW on a 64bit machine the game often doesn't load, try another computer thats not 64 bit and see if theres a change.

You may have a corrupt .dat file. Go with Konker's suggestion and re-install.

Edit: Yep, fixed it. Do a system restore. To whenever you didn't have the problem.

before you reinstall try the "-repair" command line - it may save you some time.

Okay, thanks all with your responses.
I'll first try -repair, if that fails to work I will re-download and -image again.
If all else fails I will do system restore, but I doubt that really would do anything? When would you even roll back to? :/
Anyhow, thanks again!

Hey,
Just to update you: I did a -repair and that has fixed the problem.
So it must just have been a corrupt .dat file.
Thanks again for all your help!!
