It just occurred to me that we don't have any of this collectors edition stuff, e.g divine aura, the kunny, the fire imp!
I'm abit jealous because that sort of thing would be cool, Ive had my account for a really long time and i don't feel like spending lots of money on a new account just to get it divine aura, especially since i want to display it on my main characters and not a level 3.
What i propose is an option to buy all the collectors updates in the Guild Wars Shop for all of those people who have played guild wars too long to start a new account!
What do you think, good or bad?

i would love to have divine aura but it would defeat the purpose of it being a special thing that can only be obtained once early during release. so maybe =)

Adding the Prophecies CE to your original account will give that account access to the Divine Aura.
Kuunavang, Varesh can be bought ingame.
1-Million-Edition or what it's called can be bought.
Fire Imp is fun in the beginning, but not very helpful when level 20.

Prophecies CE is a couple of hundreds dollars these days on Ebay, so out of reach of the sane.
Just life with it and envy the ones who thought: "Wow! cool, I should get the CE" in 2005.
Buy the rest in game.

Although exclusivity has its merits, I will always go for 'exclusivity over time'.
Everything devalues, so it's more important WHEN do you get the stuff more than simply having it or not.
So, I will always think that things should be exclusive during some time (3 months, 1 year, 3 year, 10 years, etc) but after some time, it should be made available for everyone (for a price, of course).
It was done, for example, with the Million edition bonus weapons and the Bonus Mission Pack. People got them for some time exclusively, but after some time everyone had access to them.
There is no point on making things 'exclusive' if anyone can get them anytime, but it's not fair to make them impossible to acquire without paying to third party resellers that buy stuff to sell it later for too much.
There are people that never knew about the game until now, maybe for not having Internet connetion, or not even having a PC, or not being old enough to play or to acquire the game since their parents won't buy it.
No one should be punished for something that it's not their fault.
I have most of the content, preorder and CE editions, and I would never mind to make the special keys that unlock the in-game stuff available to anyone 3..5 years after their releases. 3..5 years is more than enough time to show off, and if they added a way to show dates ingame (something like a 'account age pinging') the exclusivity would still be there without having to keep content away from the hands of new players.
Other thing would be the box contents. They were made once and never again, but in-game keys can be recreated anytime.

I couldn't agree more. It's nice to have some bling in the beginning showing 'hey, I'm a special edition buyer, that's how much I love the game.' but after a few years, locking everyone else out of certain content just becomes an ego thing.
Kattar
It's always been an ego thing, really.
How 'bout they reissue it just for a little while, but make it a different color or something. Kind of like festival hats. Still exclusive to a point, since you can't get the original color that Divine Aura has, but not quite.

ummm.........i'm not sure it would be fair for those who did buy the pre-realise edition for more cash then we did, because, let's say they paid extra 30$ to get the bonuses, now everyone will be able to get hose for 5$.
and if you wanna know, NO i didn't buy the special editions .

That's why they would need to change it a little bit, Slash. Different color or something.

That said, I've been running around with glowy hands for nearly 4 years and I couldn't care less if the rest of the GW players would be able to obtain the same via the ingame store. It's just...having the Aura is fun for a week or so, after that, it's just another useless feature.
But well, if people want to give Anet some more of their money... no objection here.

What Now
Erm no sorry. Being a bum shouldn't change the purpose of things.
Collector editions are made upon game releases to the first individuals that get into it and are willing to dish out that cash, kinda like fan credit.
I have divine aura and I'll admit it's nice to have and people ooh and aah but after a week you forget you even have it. It's more of a token that 3 years ago you were there, or that you wish you were and are willing to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to look cool with no additional benefit.
Imp I understand but aura and such is not helpful in game at all such as the bonus weapons, provides no advantage to those who bought the game early or online. Just for show pretty much. Not being offered it unlike the other things is understandable since it will not hinder you or make you think any less for not having it.
So stick with releasing bonus weapons and summons but the /dancenew and aura and such have no need to be on anyone but the original people who invested into the game.
If you told them before you'd consider making it something you can buy no one really would of bought the collectors and you know it. Anet needs to keep the investment and keep their offer exclusive too.

It would be nice if, perhaps, on the fourth GW birthday Anet would make it possible to buy it for a reasonable amount for the people who wish to have it.
After all four years are a very long time and I do not think that the people who already have it would mind too much.......hopefully!

You are right but what about the people who did not know about the CE or the one who bought the game later when the CE was not available anymore?

I didn't know much about GW back in 2005 and got the normal game a few months after the release, wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for the aura.

besides the fact that this has been brought up over 90000 times and been shot down by anet i do agree with MithranArkanere. and i still kick my self for not getting factions collectors ed when i had the chance.

Although it would be nice to have some purchasable account extra's, it should NOT be the same extra's as those of the Collector's Edition.

Personally, I think the aura is horrible and most people I know that have it want an option to toggle it off because it ruins their emotes for screenshots at times.
I don't really care either way though.

If our virtual hands weren't radiated enough as it is with chaos gloves, you want to add something that makes your hands ooze radiation when you emote. We don't need anymore oozing hands.

I'd /Sign for the idea of giving people access to new versions of the old animations so that the originals can still remain exclusive, but everyone can still have something like them for the fun of it.

It isn't going to happen, A-net have said on more than one occasion that the Divine Aura will only ever be in the CE boxes. You want the aura, U need to get a CE box.
