Except if you bought all 4 when they came out then it's actually a lot of money people have thrown away on Anet already you idiot.

Especially considering, as I've mentioned earlier, GW doesn't offer nearly as much content and replayability as WoW does. If I was paying anywhere near as much as I would for WoW for the 4 years I've been playing GW, I'd want a whole hell of a lot more than 4 extra storage tabs.

ArenaNet providing the things we want for free would be their way of helping assure our purchases of GW2 when it comes out.

Charging us for things that are not worth the cost anyways is their way of helping discourage sales of GW2 because it creates a bad impression of what's in store from them.

Honestly ArenaNet, you put absolutely no thought behind this update of yours.

It's retarded. I can buy more storage, with character slots, and the whole game, for $10, for a new account.

Here's the deal, cross the line into P2P and give us good updates, or stick to F2P completely.

Considering the budget differences between Blizzard and ArenaNet, i'd say Guild Wars is pretty good content wise.

So you're saying Blizzard has a higher budget so they can give more content for the same price? That makes no sense. they have a higher budget because they charge more for stuff and give more stuff that doesn't cost them as much to give. Thing is, the ratio of content per dollar is much higher with Blizzard games. They make more money because their games deliver more value than other companies' offerings.

Forget the company budgets and look at how much the game gives for how much you pay. Guild Wars cost me half as much to play it in its current form than I'd have paid to play WoW over the same period of time, and I got far less than half the content. Company budget has nothing to do with the dollar to content ratio...Anet is pulling in cash faster than they're giving content to players. period.

Lets see. I have played both WoW and GW for over three years. Lets do some math, shall we?

Guild Wars - 50 bucks
Factions - 50 bucks
Nightfall - 50 bucks
Eye of the North - 40 bucks
Bonus Mission Pack - (I got for free with promotion but lets pretend I bought it) - 10 bucks
Extra Storage Panes - (Lets pretend I am going to buy them all) - 40 bucks

Total: $240.00

World of Warcraft - 50 bucks
Burning Crusade - 40 bucks
Wrath of the Lich King - 40 bucks
Subscription Fees for 3 years at 15 bucks a month - 540 bucks

Total: $670.00 (That isn't even including $25 server transfer fee I paid)

The math speaks for itself really. Guild Wars is a good value any way you try to slice it.

I guess you're referring to "how much the game gives". But I'm probably on the same side as many "casuals" here, and the vastness of WoW's content doesn't impress me one bit. It's about fun and I wouldn't get more fun from WoW because I still got enough stuff to do in GW1 (and I can even acknowledge that I may not be able to see all the content before GW2...). Thus I'm winning on two accounts: money and "how much I'm actually going to take from the game" (not in theory if I had much more time to dedicate to GW1/WoW).

But we're not "dedicated players" are we?

I play an enjoy both games for various reasons. Don't get wrong. But seriously, people tend to downplay Guild Wars a tad' to much.

so you paid for a video game...congratulations. Guild Wars requires maintenence like any other MMO, except they dont have the subscription fees to take care of it. F2P MMO's are free but for absolutely anything extra they wont hesitate to charge you out the ass for a completely worthless item in the in-game store. At least Anet is offering something useful, im sure handing out more storage isnt exactly easy for them.

I understand you spent the initial price to buy the game, we all did, er, hopefully. But here's the deal. Your 50 bucks is not a magical pile of money that they can continually draw from and it will never run out. The 50 you paid for Prophecies is long gone. Went to server fee's, Internet service bills (Imagine how much bandwidth is used when people use the -image command. My .dat is basically 3.6GB downloaded in one night.), payroll for the workers, etc.

Believe me I am sure the companies wish that 50 they got from you was pure profit but in reality it was not.

Exactly how are you measuring that? I am just curious, since you are now making claims that should be backed up with data. I would like to see a research study with good designs.

or what that statement just your opinion?

Charging $10 usd for a tab of storage isn't completely retarded lol...

Chances are... hardcore players are gonna buy the storage tabs (well thats if theres any left)

It's price discrimination. You charge more to the people who are willing to pay for more. If you're a rational spender of money then you don't buy, but if your hooked... you might.

Its just the same as how the airlines charge 10x for the same ticket booked for the next day compared to a ticket booked 3 months in advance... it's not cos its harder to find the seats.

Not bitching or whining. Just wanted to point out a mistake from the previous pages. You don't get a free Xunlai Storage pane. According to the official website, there will most likely be a contest or something similar to win a free pane. Another way to get this "free" pane is to purchase a Xunlai Storage pane. Sort of like a buy 1 get 1 free but details will be further announced.

It seems to be restricted to Armor and weapons, for now:

If we decide to increase bag sizes (which we would like to do at some point) we will need to increase the minimum resolution available. That is one of the reasons we went with the Equipment Pack right now instead. Another is that a pack which restricts what can be put in it does save on data storage quite a bit. Once we have released these things and assessed their effect on the servers we can evaluate the need or ability to offer more storage upgrades in the future.

Oops, sorry, it does let you put UNcustomized weapons in there too since shields and focii don't get customized and most casters don't customize their weapons either. So it is uncustomized weapons, and weapons/armor customized by the char storing it. It's allowing weapons customized to multiple different people that is one of the biggest problems with general storage. So just cutting that out alone allowed us to do the Equipment Pack and it was actually Mike O'Brien who suggested the idea in one of our big meetings on storage.

For the quest rewards, we give out: Experience, Gold, Balthazar Faction, Luxon/Kurzick Faction, Titlepoints (SS/LB/Asura/Norn/Vanguard/Deldrimor), and Zaishen Coins. Zoins are on every quest, as is gold, but everything else is dependant on the quests objectives. So for instance, the Zquest to go do the Consulate Docks mission gives XP, Gold, Sunspear points. and Zcoins. The Zquest to kill Kanaxai gives XP, Gold, Luxon Faction and Zcoins. The Zquest to play RA gives Balth Faction, Gold and Zcoins. Zcoins can be used to buy a bunch of stuff like pet unlocks and a variety of items (much more than your average Quartermaster, includes Zkeys) from a few rewards NPCs as well.

Then again its a sacrifice some people would prefer. For example buying two games means you can have 8 slots....however they do not share information amongst the accounts and people prefer to link them
Its sort of the same situation, its not too much in price. I know alot of people prefer to have access to a storage than have to create more characters and switching amongst them can be a minor inconvenience i would rather be without.

That new equipment pack idea sounds brilliant, i see how theyve made it. They were mentioning other methods of armor storage that wouldn't be good for holding the various information peices on the armor such as colour, insignias, runes etc..I can immagine that it works similar to how current armor is stored when worn where their is specialised slots for each peice....a more convenient storage then the way people are using their heroes.

I think limiting these slots to armor and storage is actually much better than just giving us slots for anything, there needes to be limitations.

edit:
I'm quite interested to see prices when it comes to gettin zkeys /baltahzar faction for doing some quests.

Wait, so whats the bloody point? Who carries around 20 weapons/shields in PvE?

If its going to be clunky and stupid to swap we may as well stick with what we got...

the point being...it saves space........and probably best solution datastorage wirse on their system.

Any info on party size for the managerie...that scares me. Can you allow other people to charm your animals if you bring them along. How are the creatures unlocked, are htey unlocked on capture this way or do you take them to the tamer or island itself. In the case of takin them you would allow heroes to go the island.

slightly offtopic but it would be cool to see heroes walking around on the island some reason that can only be a dream though...what i wanted for HoM the other year.

I do. Is that a bad thing? There are PvE'ers who collect rare weapons, or just collections of weapons for each circumstance. I have 6 shields, 4 swords, 3 axes, 4 hammers, and a pulling bow. I need more of each, except for the bow.

Why not? There's expensive stuff you don't want to sell maybe, certain skins you just like, collecting stuff for heroes... I like this storage. On the other side the pet thing is laughable to me, and I can't imagine people collecting pets. The game covers a wide base of things, sometimes its problem ironically.

Yes it is. It looks like a-net may have nailed this one. If the Zoins prove to be an equally effective way of getting the item you want as farming gold or grinding the appropriate dungeon; and if the Faction/Titlepoint rewards prove to be an equally effective way of maxing titles as grinding; then ZQuests may become the dominant way people play GW PvE. Cool.
