I saw an idea dealing with a larger post-searing aslcalon and it got about 40/60 support, and I thought instead of inventing new areas, it would be easier to just enlargen pre to include some of the post areas.
It isn't the greatest idea, but many people love pre and after being in play for over 3 and a half years, it has only recieved minor revisions. Giving new areas would enlargen it to give new content to perma pres, add some story, and just give a bit more content to the game even how minor this would be.
The main area in question would be the Serenity Temple region of ascalon as just that would be a big enough addition. But to go farthur, the Breach and Surmia area might be neat too. Going to Nolani would be definently over-doing it, so I'm not asking for that, but as said before, Serenity Temple and possibly surmia and the breach would be pretty neat areas to add into pre.

I imagine it would take a fair amount of work to essentially undestroy areas from post and re-skin them with new creatures (even if they're low level they'd be distinct from the ones present in post based on the zones that already overlap) and whatnot... probably more work than they would be willing to assign to it. Plus, if they did they'd likely have to pull people of other projects (GW2... or whatever else they're working on), and, well, if you follow this site at all you'll know just how much complaining will arise when they take even longer to get that up and running.
It would only be fair to give pre some attention for a change and give those of you who linger in there something new for a change. Maybe an occasionally carnival or something along those lines, letting them recycle CNY (or any existing one) events but relate them to Tyrian lore somehow. Might still be a stretch, but maybe less of one.

Pre was never intended for long-range playing. It was created as a tutorial area intended to ease new players into the guild wars universe and to create lore and history for some of it's areas and characters. Some people have been there for over three years and have been thriving there, that fact in itself is an aberration.
I, for one, believe that Arena-Net has done enough for pre-searing Ascalon and would be best served by putting services and resources into the main 3 games and EOTN expansion in preparation for guild wars 2.

pre was never meant to be a permanent resting place for characters.... obviously... it's not realistic to expect it to be changed, nor should they spend the necessary man hours on that when they have GW2 to work on, as well as maintaining the rest of GW1.

i think it would be super cool to be able to see all of Ascalon in pre. and i think it would also fix some issues i have with pre and Prophecies and that is timing and what lvl you are at what places and boss locations (i for one HATE random boss locations) now i do agree that everywhere in ascalon would be a bit much but if they did a little more it would be epic imo. and how this would fix timing and lvling and boss locations is it would make it so more people would leave pre at a higher lvl and thus would make it so once you got to Lions arch you would be lvl 20 and that would alow for people to have 8 player partys and would alow for bosses that are in the areas out side of la to be a high lvl and have elites.
Edit do i think this will be done no. would i like it to yes. also sorry for the wall of text. and kind of going off topic.

back in the day pre was awesome. low lvls, small amount of ppl, NO LDOA, no charr bags, no charr salvage kits, no wearable charr armor ( soon to be added becuz the current whiny pre community...[kidding]), a few ppl (including myself) who just hung out in pre, and most importantly a stable economy.
with the addition of LDOA came hordes of ppl going for the title ruining the pre economy and the delicate atmosphere it held.
what am i getting at? adding something to pre would just kill it more.
Also, GW2 is soon. All anet has to do is look at the title of this thread and know to skip it.

pre is a tutorial area so /notsigned i'm afraid. The point of it is to move on...now with LDoA we have a reason to stay there longer, but that's really all we need. We certainly don't need to expand it. Instead of doing this i'd rather see some other form of new content. Or even keep the areas the same, just add some new quests or something.

Pre-Ascalon it's not just tutorial area. It's a BASIC tutorial area (like Monastery Overlook and Seikah Island and Island of Shehkah), after leaving there, there is some tutorial left (like Churrhir Fields and the Shing Jea training quests). A place with quests you can never retake and you can no longer go back to after you leave.
In Prophecies there are simply some more quests for certain professions.
[Yes, I know you can explore the Factions one, but it's no longer Monastery OVerlook, just part of Shing Jea Monastery, and outpost, not an explorable]
In pre-Searing you are on your own and you can't skip it, unlike the other two basic tutorials where you can either take the brief explanation by an NPC or skip it altogether. You may make it trough it quite fast, but you can't skip it like the other two basic tutorials.
No one really explain the basics like "Click to attack", resurrections or morale bonuses explained in the other two and there are only some hints in the blue boxes. It adds PvP and ends with the example of a Mission.
And then, you 'train' until getting to Lion's Arch, where you learn about the signet of capture... ages before you find the first boss with an Elite skill...
Prophecies has many things too late. Parties of 8, level 20 Monsters and Elite skills should have been appearing since Lion's Arch. But they don't.
Can we change that now? I doubt it.
If rebalancing levels and content density can't be done now because it's too late. You can't expect new content being added just to a basic tutorial area.
It would be better to reopen the catacombs in post-Searing than bringing any post-Searing area to pre-Searing, since all characters, not only Tyrian ones, would enjoy it.
In short:
- If something must be added to pre-Searing it should be a brief tutotial with dialog boxes explaining things like 'click to attack', resurrect, morale bonuses, and the option to skip it altogether, getting the basic skills and moving to Ascalon directly, like in the other two tutorial areas.
- If an area is to be brought from one time to the other, it should be something like the catacombs to post-Searing, not any of the post-Searing areas to pre-Searing.
