I am trying to run GW in linux. I am using Wine (and the front end playonlinux). I have been able to install the game just fine and it runs. However i dont feel that my graphics are where they would be if i was in windows.
It is very choppy, i can not choose my resolution other than in a window, can not change the size of the window, and have had to lower some of my settings where before in windows everything was max.. I am using an 8800 GTS by Nvidia, with an AMD6000+ proc and 2 Gigs of Ram.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Guild wars in Linux (Using wine and ubuntu 8.10)

that's to be expected. this is because guild wars is a directx 9 game, and linux does not support directx. what wine is doing is that it's translating dx9 calls to opengl in real time, which cuts heavily into your game's performance.

Hi I ran it on linux a few days ago, I run 3gb's of Ram and a 9800GT 1gb video card, Framerate about 25-30 and a high ping. Also as moriz said it's a dx9 game. I'd stick to running it on windows. Linux is still not very popular for games.
Wrath Of Dragons
if i remember correctly....using the -directx8 flag as well as the -nosound should also help.
