Hey, as put in title i have a Inspiron E1405 labtop.
Here's my situation.
Since my labtop is kinda slow (1 GB RAM) im looking to install 1 gb of ram into it.
I need to know what 1GB memory thing i should buy(I'm guessing the DDR2, PC2 5300, 667MHz) and how to install it, i need these answers asap because i want to go to a store thats closing down and buy the memory while its cheap...thanks!
I'm still pretty noob computer wise so sorry if im not giving u enough info, if i need to give u more info just tell me

You need this kind of RAM

DDR2-667 PC2-5300

Now your laptop may have 2 512mb modules in it (sticks or "dimms") or it may have 1 at 1GB... the only sure way to know is to unscrew the little plate on the back and look yourself. To remove the RAM stick you will need to gently press outwards on the two tabs (one on either side) - it should pop upwards and you can pull it out. To insert a new RAM stick, just gently apply pressure until it goes in with a click. There is only one way that it will fit, so don't try to force it.
There are some videos on YouTube that will show you if you are having trouble with it, just remember every laptop is a little different.

good luck!

well since im in a run i cant ope nmy computer up at the moment.
but looking at the dell website it says there are 2 sockets.
so, ill be able to buy 2 sticks of ram and take out both of the 512 mb and add the 1gbs that i bought?

Update:
on my computer it says its a Inspirion E1405 but in the system properties it says this

does that have anything to do with what RAM i should get?

He is saying that your computer may only have 1 of the 2 slots filled.
So, instead of 2 512mb sticks like most companies do, your computer may actually have a single 1gig stick filling up only 1 of the 2 slots.
Either way, the ram he suggested should work fine, you just want to avoid buying 2 sticks if you only need 1.

that

oh and your computer is running this:
RAM: 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM @667 MHz (2 x 512MB)

edit to add that it should be 2 sticks running in dual channel, would be strange to have only 1, but double check before plucking down cash on the new sticks.
