Is there any way to make date format configurable in the User CP? I know I should be used to it by now, but the American style mm.dd.yyyy still throws me occasionally - I'm used to the British dd.mm.yyyy

If the time format can be configured to user settings, can't date be tweaked the same way? My technical knowledge of vBulletin is pretty poor

I would suggest changing to MMM.dd.yyy otherwise, ie Apr.01.2009, Sep.29.2009 etc., but that's far less international.

Saying the month name would be much better anyway that way we dont get confused people like Snoggy here and his backwards dates. =P

Backwards?
Smallest value to highest:
date -> month -> year, is eminently logical.
month -> date -> year, is just confused,- middle, start, end.

Proof: Cky Sunluayer <- that's your user name translated to "confused" format. Sound a bit like Sky the Sunlawyer

Don't feel bad,- those UK chaps still think there are measurement units called a Stone and an Inch

On a more serious note; I think we could eliminate some of the violations in Ventari's if people didn't get confused because of the time format. Would be a very useful option to add.

Month first just sounds better when you say it out loud.

So does slang - but that too looks like crap in writing!

In Danish we say it like we write it - lowest to highest value: day, month, year. It sounds fine!

Reading the month before the day in certain applications, such as on an Internet forum, is logical to many people for various reasons. It is just as intuitive as how we know that 12:00 is noon rather than twelve minutes past midnight, but the logic behind date formats is not really the issue here.

I am surprised that the date format is not a user-configurable option by default. I am much more familiar with phpBB, but I do know that the date format in vBulletin can at least be configured in the ACP. If it is impossible to change on the user level, I would suggest YYYY-MM-DD as a compromise.

Saying the year first is just bad. Please no.

But yeah as long as the month is first and is spelled out everything will be fine.
