Degen Mesmer

Degen mesmer can be ok, same as degen Necro but I feel where both classes shine is not in raw degen. Damage over time is good but some spike is nice to push that red bar to flatline. Is this for pve or pvp? Your strength as a mesmer is in interupts and dmg reversal and I think you will want a little of all of it.

I have used Virulance Spike before it combines a good combo of degen and spike.


-Ether Feast
- Fragility
- Accumulated Pain
- Virulence [E]
- Images of Remorse
- Ethereal Burden
- Leech Signet / interrupt
- Res Signet / Sunspear Signet / optional

Base stats (+proposed runes):
Illusion: 12 (+3+1)
Inspiration: 11 (+1)
Fast Casting: 6 (+1)

Use:
Cast fragility & cover it with Images of Remorse (-55,-3 degen). If your target doesnt suffer from any conditions caused by your party mates then cast Accumulated Pain (-37,deep wound), followed by virulence.
If the target already suffers from a condition you might as well move straight to virulence & cast accumulated pain after, it depends a bit on the strength of the target.
Ethereal Burden gives you 23 energy after 10 sec (max that is, the target may die / remove the hex sooner) so your timing depends a bit on your situation.
Leech Signet & Ether Feast are personal preferences, I hate going in without any kind of self heal or interrupt. Depending on your party composition, those 2 can be considered optional

Post this in the Mesmer forum of the Campfire if you want to discuss Mesmer builds. In general, your question can't be answered. Any good is a very vague question - good for PvP, PvE, AB, elite missions, HM, NM, etc. Builds being good or not depend on where and why you are using it.

Its kind of a solo target builds when you build around Illusion. Low levels you will own , but large mobs higher levels it will get owned.

PvE: [ether nightmare], thats all you need.

so i could have LT on one enemy, CN on another, CP and EN on a third etc

LT & EN are AoE. In pve, those 2 will max out the degen on the whole mob. In pvp, a build like that is a waste.

making a build with only degen will even make mobs in pve laugh at you. bomberman said it all you need is [ether nightmare]

I would think a Necro is better for degening, but just for the sake of it, here's a degen Mesmer build that might work decently.
