Two man PvE team?

My friend and I are currently playing through Nightfall (approaching Vabbi) after finishing Prophecies. We played as Rangers in Prophecies and now I'm a Dervish and he's a Paragon. Right now our "synergistic magic" amounts to my friend using "Go for the Eyes!" to up my crits. We want to make a two man team that really complements eachother and can do PvE without heroes or henchmen.

I've gone through a lot of builds on pvxwiki (including teams) but most of them require more than Prophecies/Nightfall skills, or skills that you get towards the end of the game. Does anyone have any fun/recommended two-man team builds using Proph and NF skills? Dervish/Paragon would be great, but we're also going to play through Factions and GWEN so if the builds have skills that are accessible early on in those games that also works. Thanks!

you're not goin to be able to go through the campaign without heroes.
a good team build will consist of using heroes.

What I suggest is that as a dervish you run something that has a balance between defense and attack, and make use of enchantments. Some good skills (dunno how far these are through nightfall) conviction, mystic regeneration, mystic sweep, victorious sweep, eremite's attack, faithful intervention.

A paragon's most widely used build is the imbagon which utilises Save Yourselves and There's Nothing To Fear (Save Yourselves being a faction's allegiance skill). Basically he needs to be looking at supportin the party with whichever buffs you like the sound of.

As for heroes, for normal mode play initially, I recommend running 2 sets of sabway (3 necromancers: 1 spiteful spirit, 1 jagged bones minion master and 1 n/rt healer). This setup is great to get used to the game and to progress through first time.

Hope this has helped you a little, have fun

It's not likely you'll find a duo build to make it through all of the areas, but that doesn't mean you have to take a full party either. I've ran through areas in Vabbi with just myself, 3 heroes and and 2 henches. Just make sure you invest in your heroes armor with insignias and runes and give them good weapons.

I've used the Sabway team and it is great, but there are times when I like having a mixed party just to try out different heroes. Normal Mode PVE is actually fairly forgiving as long as you have a decent balance of classes... and you watch the aggro control.

In fact, I've taken a party of 7 regular henches (2 monks, 2 melee, 3 caster/ranged), gone into some of the explorable areas, walked up to a mob and just stood there doing nothing... the henches handle the fights on their own once I got aggro. That may not work everywhere, but it's surprising how many places you can do that... including mobs of Margonites.

Aggro control is everything.

As for builds, I'd suggest reading the "basics" guides in the related Campfire forums and try some of the recommendations there, for starters. Get more familiar with the classes and you'll be able to better see how they complement each other.

I know you're looking for specific skills/builds, but (and here's the comment I hated seeing for so long), what to use depends on the area you're going into. Get the basics down really good and build from there.

Not that I've ever done it, but I suppose there are odd variations you could make with a Paragon/Dervish 2-man team, sort of like the typical 600/Smite teams which I'm guessing you're trying to accomplish in an interesting manner.

How about speccing your Dervish as a D/Mo and going as a healer, with only two people in your team, it won't be hard to get mystic healing to hit the right person. The dervish does have a pretty good number of strong single target spells after all. But in that case, your Paragon will have to go as the primary damage dealer, maybe a P/R pet build might help to increase the 'party' count without including any H/H

The opposite might have worked as well if the Paragon still had Angelic Bond work as a equal damage sharing skill.

Just ideas off the top of my head, not anything I've really tried, but it might work in both health and energy upkeep.

Great thanks for the suggestions and the reminder about the Campfire section. I'll read through the Dervish and Paragon threads there for ideas. Right now I'm using an Avatar of Lyssa build focused on high damage. Basically this:

minus Conviction because I don't have it yet. I think I'll start with capping Avatar of Balthazar (just got into Kodonur Crossroads) to raise my armor and bring a self and party heal. Thanks again for the help.

I do my best to get and hold aggro, but keeping two or more foes together is more of an exception than the rule.

[protector's strike] is often recommended for AoL builds. It's only +10 damage on moving targets, but activates/recharges fast and is good for catching skills to trigger AoL damage.

The [life sheath] description is no longer current.

Remove 0...2 conditions from target ally. For 8 seconds, the next time that ally would take damage, that ally gains that amount of Health instead (maximum 20...84).

Basically a fancy Weapon of Remedy/Reversal Of Fortune.
