In the different files that download to my machine for the game, is there one that controls the drop rate? Before I delete the gw.dat file and do another complete download, I am wondering if it needed. I just did the Riverside Province mission, with myself and 3 heroes, and got 6 items and 46 gold. I am getting similar drop rates on quests and other missions with different characters.
If I have a missing or maybe corrupt file, I will do a complete reload. Please let me know if this is necessary.

I bet that the gw.dat has something in there that controls drop rates.
I bet that if you mess with it to improve/cut yours, you'll get banned.
I bet that it was your own luck that got you only six items and 46 gold.

Drop rates are controlled serverside.

Would've been cool though:
'Darn, haven't gotten any Ecto last few runs. Think I'll delete my .dat en download it again, thereby resetting all the droprates'
.....
'Well look at that, 5 Ecto dropping for me in the first run, guess it worked'

Make sure that if you made a full redownload and it works, you keep a copy of the gw.dat file (ideally the whole GW folder if it fits in a DVD). That way, next time you want to reinstall (or install on a new computer) you copy this gw.dat and need only the updates since that backup.
And GW is a server-controlled game, the client is only a fancy displayer of pictures .
