Okay so I noticed that the economy in the game is in bad shape. Why do I say that? I have noticed that people will sell things for 10k for one hour and then one hour later they sell it for 5k. What is going on with the value of money in the GW economy?

Its more like there is a massive amount of items floating around, and more than people can use. So its low demand I see. New players can get stuff for free or cheap and vet players can afford high end special skins etc with value of 100k+.
Its harder to sell stuff worth 5-10k, it kinda makes price drop by itself.

Well its the whole "im going to make a char for the new build!" kinda thing. basically some new skills come out that combined with some old forgotten ones means that characters of certain classes can become over powered. just like the 55 monk in uw, they could get ectos so easily it made the price drop (other things in account like perma sins etc) any way as soon as one person finds the build everyone wants a piece of it and you end up with hundreds of players AND bots repeatedly farming for the high priced items that can be farmed. Zkeys and Ectos are a way of trading money over 100k, so if you invest 10 ectos worth 10k each (so that's 100k's worth of currency) just to find that the price of ectos as halved to 5k, automatically means that every one wants to keep what money they have in CASH. It also means that they don't want to go wasting even more money on ectos and Zkeys because obviously they will just decrease constantly, so to keep the economy in shape the build has to be nerfed so once again its harder to get these items and the price rises, BUT IT NEVER RETURNS TO ITS PROPER PRICE BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE WARY THAT AT ANY TIME SOME NEW BUILD WILL COME UP AND ALL THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. This can all happen in a small amount of time and people get confused on what prices these rare items are. and because they've lost so much money that means that they have less for high end weapons, crafting materials, consets and so.. so in the end the economy is in tatters.
*note this is what has happened to me, and on other games ive played. so my experiance is different to what others might say, hopefully this helped even thougth it was slightly *cough*alot*cough* off topic in areas

Back in the first GW, stuff with perfect stats sold for ~80-100k easily. Now, with inscriptions from NF and the easy super farming from GWEN, items with perfect stats are ridiculously easy to acquire.
Nothing really has value or demand in this game except rare novelty items (rare minis, everlasting tonics) or stuff that counts towards a title (z-keys, booze, party point) or stuff that no longer drops (really rare +15% inherent weapons, etc).
Don't worry, you are not the only person to realize this. Pretty much every GW veteran will agree the economy is pretty screwed up. Just don't worry about money in this game and you'll be fine. Do whatever you enjoy.

The long term trend of the in-game economy is that over time, more players gain more wealth and more stuff. Thus, surplus supply and less demand. Basic economics. You can't fight it.
Farming greatly affects the value of certain items, primarily because of increase in supply. A simple example would be assassin tomes. The reason you can buy assassin tomes for 100g is not that people don't like assassin tomes... it is because there are tons of assassin tomes available due to the raptor farm outside Rata Sum and other farms like Shredder.

1 - What end of new tonics? A new one just came out thursday.
2 - What does xp have to do with Zkeys? The reason the keys are dropping in price is the exact same as stated above, too many out there. Way more keys are introduced into the game every month, and that means that the supply is increasing at an enormous rate. The supply is rising, but the demand stays the same - so supply becomes much greater than demand - so the price falls.
